new to me, 2011 GS. The temperature being displayed is always 75" in the climate control panel. I read the manual and still really dont understand this at all. it never updates the cabin / outside temp.
Any thoughts?
Uhhh, "easy" is in the eye of the do'er. (is that a word? )
I haven't done it but many have. It's a little tight working space and a difficult push pin to get out to remove it. But if you take your time to identify everything you can probably do it.
I think you can "reset" the outdoor temp setting, you just have to Google it. Maybe try that before replacing the sensor.
If it never moves off of 75°, I don't think the "reset" option will work. But, if you want to try it, here it is.
With the engine running, press the following 3 buttons on the A/C controls simultaneously:
Right-most button, 2nd from right-most button, and 4th from the right-most button. (That's the rear window defogger button, defrost button, and fan control button).
Thanks for everyone's help. it was the outside temp sensor. Now for the mystery of buying used, car has 9K miles.. I can't find the sensor at all, looking everywhere it should be. I happen to be digging around by the horns and found the sensor wiring uplugged and sensor missing. While at it, i notice the horn wires had be been sliced with butt slice on t the two wires going to it. I have not idea what this is all about.
Anyway, sensor is replaced, $10 part with next day shipping. cant imagine what i might find if i keep looking.
the top pic was how i found it. I looked everywhere and since it was not there i was completely lost. Then started feel around for wheel wells and found the loose plug with no sensor attached.
Very strange indeed about the horn wires being sliced. not sure what that was about. And i still dont get why anyone would just remove the sensor and never replace it. its likely the cheapest part on the whole car.

I've sold cars that I've modified and then returned to stock and splicing wires is one of those "features". I've also got parts on the shelf in the garage that are from car's I haven't owned in 40 years but just can't bring myself to throw away. Need a nice 2 barrel carb from a 62 Olds?
