Resetting solves the problem? First I've heard of this. My guess (purely from having a few go bad over the years) is that, at best, it was temporary, and what is really going on is that it's starting to go bad, but decided to behave for the moment.
Sometimes they go bad in a flash and never come back, sometimes they take a couple years to go bad and stay bad. I've had them go both ways. I even had one give me a message, clear itself, and then, in the next 60,000 miles (that I owned the car) stay just fine (I think it was Onstar ping-related).
