well said. I prefer to buy cars that have been driven so I know all the kinks must have been worked out and plus i don't want to spend 30k being a college student haha
70,000 and needed a clutch replacement vs 120,000 that didn't. I have to agree with the idea the 06 may have been abused. I have put over 100,000 miles on many a stick shift vehicle without needing to replace the clutch. I have over 60,000 on my 2011 Vette and it is solid.
Keep looking for a lower mileage car. I found a c5 for a friend this year 02, 21000 miles original tires, one owner $21,500. Winter storage is sometimes an issue, folks want off off of them. Enjoy the thrill of the hunt!

Problem is c6s aren't that cheap yet. I see low mile ones going for high 20s to low 30s which is out of the range I want to spend

Not sure if I would honestly consider that a deal. 02 =13 years old.
I always go for lower miles. What were the prices for each? You could probably find a really low mileage C5 for less than the high mileage C6. If it's all about budget, that's what I would do.

$19,500
I'm not afraid of the highish miles on the C6s. I was deciding between a lower mile c5z or a c6 and just decided to go with a c6. I'm not going to resell the car for a while if ever so resale is not a concern for me
For your purpose it sounds like the lower mileage vehicle would better suit your needs. 50K is a ton of miles difference for a DD. If this was a different car I'd bet the majority would say get the lower mileage vehicle.
imho, you weren't be hurting yourself at $20k for the '08 as long as the service history is there and you have a good positive interaction with the original owner. you're "gut" feeling when speaking to a previous owner is very meaningful. you're there, we're not.. mileage is moot point. guys primary vehicle less likely to be abused as a low low mileage take out on weekends and beat up for two days every week. not everyone that owns a "toy" treats them like these geezers on the boards do.. go with your gut.
