Anyone that has installed these can give me some "insight"! On the rears you need to remove the rear wheels and drill four holes to install the push pins. My question involves the push pins which require 21/64" holes. Those holes are to small. The outer shell of the pins fit but when you insert the actual pin in it does not fit. I made the holes a little larger but they still would not fit. You can only make the hole so big before they become to big (which I did not do but but was afraid I would if I kept making the holes larger). How do you get these pins in?
Thanks.
are these the GM ones? that inner pin should be tight after the being inserted into its hole. dont make the holes too big but use enough pressure to press the pin into the lockd position. if i remember right these flaps adhere to the body with 3M sticky tape

They are the GM guards. But when you insert the pin in it stops, bends, and pisses you off! They do have the tape to hold them in place. There must be a "secret" that my feeble brain has not figured out to getting these in which explains why I feel brain dead at this time!

those holes are adequately sized. I didn't have that exact bit, so I took one slightly smaller and bored it out a little bit. it can be a tight fit, but anytime it was too tight, I just bored it out a little more until it went through with some force.
I used the "official" size bit for the holes, or slightly smaller, so it should work.
After I marked the locations to drill, I decided to hold the rear guards in place and re-mark to be sure. The marks were in different places. Tried a third time and they were different yet again. It turns out there are several slightly different locations where you can hold the guard and it looks right, but one of them will look "righter" than the others. Having a helper is useful.
I kept re-marking until I was satisfied with the location of the flaps and the holes, drilled, and installed. Very happy with the results.
BTW, the mounting tape won't stick to wax, you can use 3M Adhesive Remover and then 91% alcohol- quick wipes, don't let the liquid sit on your paint. Then, test with masking tape that it will stick properly.

To add to this helpful advice, use some painters tape to hold the rear flap in place once installed to let the mounting tape settle. It tends to pull away from the body if you don't.

I put mine on about a year ago.....as I recall, the fronts were pretty easy. The rears were a bit of a pain. Had to make the holes a bit bigger by sweeping the drill around a little...just a little. And yes, it is easier to push the pins in with a bit of lubricant to make them slide easier. I remember the rears were frustrating but they finally came out nice.
I used a slightly different push style clip for the bottom holes on the rears as I had the same issue. It was from a box of various body panel clips I got off ebay.

I used a plastic mallet to pound them in, but I wasn't too comfortable beating the crap out of the fender well with a hammer. So I went several drill sizes larger than recommended -- one at a time -- to accomplish it.
At any rate they've been in for two years now, no issues.
