Default Another "Fob not recognized" thread

Except mine is a little different. After the car sits for a day or two, when I try to open the door it's like the car doesn't recognize the fob. But if I hold the door button for about 5 seconds it finally opens. Then everything works fine. Doors open instantly. It seems to be getting worse. It does the same thing for both fobs. Could it be interference with the battery tender?

Weed the problem down to either a fob, antenna, or switchs/latch activator.

Hence go around the car and try both doors, and even the latch release button above the plates. When you pull the door pads, look at the light on the doors to see if it/s blinking or not. Blinking will tell you if the car is seeing the fobs correctly from the start, and the problem maybe related to a latch activator or pull pad if the problem is only one door.

If all act the same, then time to check the fob batteries (should have +3volts on the batteries) and even clean the fobs to make sure that the prongs to both the batteries and the control board are clean and making good contact.

Next would be to see what you have added to the car, since it may be blocking the signal of the RCDLR (yes, even a phone charger can cause interference problems).

So on this order, clean fobs and batteries with +3 volts,
Door pull pads cleaned if needed.
Latch activators checked if needed.

As for the final two checks if it gets to this point, then you really need a Tech 2 to diagnose the problem (short of just a loose/corrode connector).
RCDLR and antennas .
Body control module

As for tender, which brand/type do you have?
Also, might want to try to reset the entire car, hence disconnect the negative cable, let the car sit for about 15mins, then connect the cable back on the battery (don't forget the re-index the windows). Hence not uncommon for the system to wig out once in a blue moon, and disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it will rest the entire system to clean such glitch problems.

Your profile says you have a 2005 C6. How old are the batteries in both fobs? GM has said typical fob battery life is about 3 years. I'd think about changing the fob batteries.

I doubt the battery tender has anything to do with it. I would replace the fob battery and see what happens. Easiest things first.
(I don't type as fast as 2 other guys)

Agree with the previous comment, start with fresh batts in your key fob. Here is the "How to" link on how to change your FOB batteries. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ement-diy.html

Thanks, the batteries are only about a year old but I will change them both out and see if that helps. When I push the door pad the red light burns steady which I think means the fob is not recognized.

I am going to remove and clean the door pads also but I can't seem to find the tutorial that I once saw on how to do this.

I looked at the price of new switches and just bought them instead of cleaning the old ones. I think the price on new screws was about equal to the price on new switches.
