Went out to start the car yesterday, everything lit up and it wouldn't start though I got a new battery from the Chevy dealer two months ago. The DIC said 11.7, so put a charger on it and after 15 hours the charger said it was charged. Was going to take it for a drive, but it still would not start and DIC said 12.2. It seems that should be enough to start it. Any ideas about what to do. I had been driving the car prior to this.
You could of got a bad battery...it's been known to happen.
Get the battery load tested. It sounds like it has a bad cell if it only charges to 12 volts.
Will the shifter move? If yes, try cycling it a few times to make sure the neutral lock out switch is not stuck.
I put new battery in FOB about a month ago. I've not gone through all gears, but I am noticing that it is harder to get into reverse and this is a car (2005) that needs to be in reverse to keep battery from discharging when parked. Along that line I am wondering if the switch under the clutch that has to be depressed to start could be bad. Wonder if anyone has experience with that. Did try to jump battery today, but no luck. Will go cycle through gears as you suggested. Thanks!
Make sure terminals on battery are the correct OEM cone nut type and that they are oriented correctly. Then check ground still starter and ensure it is tight and not corroded. If when you turn key all instruments go dark it's likely battery curcuit related. If everything stays bright and doesn't dim when you turn key, check the switch under the clutch. Be sure to post up your findings.
Everything stays lit like a Christmas tree when I push start button. Not sure what or how to check the switch under the clutch other than I know it is there and clicks when you mess with it. Hoping someone has experience with that switch.
the clutch switch (on the floor) could be bad, press it by hand & see if clicks. try doing a voltage drop test from the battery to the alternator to the starter. worse case, the starter failed.
Disconnect the battery. Just undoing the positive post will do. After a few seconds, reconnect. The car should start right up. If it does, it is not your battery.
To fix this long-term, get an aftermarket steering column bypass. If you do not like that option, check the stuff that people are telling you to check (clutch pedal switch ; shifter switch that engages in reverse ; a computer flash at the dealer that may fix it ; steering column lock screw).

May also be the ignition switch itself since no apparent drain on battery results from trying to start car. Do a search for ignition switch problem threads. May be something there that helps as it's been discussed before. Other than that I got nothing!
I'd bet its the fob. Check that the battery is in correctly and it's the proper battery. Do you have 2 fobs? Change both batteries (they come in a 2 pack) and then try again.
