Nice track wheel & tire set-up.

This is one of my off-road playgrounds so far with this car. 3 in AZ, 2 each in CA and NJ, plus 1 in OH and FL. Looking forward to playing in MD and maybe the Carolinas this year.

52 and have owned C6 for 2 years, thought about some mods but just not interesting to me anymore

HP is fine and to be honest I have never even "lit the tires up" yet on my C6

Wanting to add aftermarket wheels and maybe ZR1 carbon fiber spoiler, side skirts and front splitter

Would love to have long tube headers but guess that will

I have been restoring or building muscle cars most of my life. I have only done 4 full restorations or I should say restifications since none of them were to stock specs. When I was 16 I built my first ddaily driver, a 63 Impala convertible. It had a 6 cylinder and three on the tree. I swapped in a 327 and a 4 speed from a wrecked 66 Chevelle. When I was 22, I built a 70 Nova SS drag car. When I was 35 I built a 75 Camaro drag car. When I was 44 I built the wife's 69 Camaro SS to include the sheet metal work, suspension, electrical, brake system, rear end engine trans and interior. The only thing I do not do is the body and paint work. At 50 I put in a crate engine, TKO600 5 speed and added Vintage Air. When I was 52 I built my 69 Corvette roadster and when I was 56 I built my youngest son's 71 Nova SS. I am 59 now. We have the 13 GS and I have not done any modifications nor do I plan to. I no longer race so the horsepower it left the assembly plant with is plenty for me. In my opinion your age has nothing to do with the desire to modify a car. It is either in your genes or it isn't. Then the issue is funding. The question you have to ask yourself is how much can your wallet handle?

I massaged every part on my '91 (see my garage) making it just the way I wanted it.
'12 is stock except for a fan controller.
Rationale: warranty
happy with the car the way it is
got mod fever out of my system
Real reason: Father Time taking his toll.

I turned 50 last June and have been involved in racing with my son from 2002-2012. He went off to college and we sold off all our racing stuff. Had a blast all those years of racing with him, working on the cars to make them faster and traveling all over the East coast to different race tracks. Now it's my time to have some fun behind the wheel. I am close to making a deal on a 2012 GS and look forward to adding some things to the car. I would agree with the person that said 50 is the new 30. Getting real excited about starting a new chapter in my life and look forward to meeting some other vette owners at the shows and track. Jim

Another guy older than dirt
Yup been playing with performance cars for years. My 2005 A4 with 3.15 gears, Bilstein shocks, complete Z06 exhaust, 2800 stall converter, fast intake, honker cold air and tune runs decent but no where as fast as HOXXOH (Tom)

I'm 72 and it was a blast to go out and fire up my 69 Camaro and feel the 650+ HP rumble. It was fun to nail it in any gear and break the tires lose. It was painful when things broke, and they did, often. It was even more painful when racing gas hit $8.00 a gallon and it was only getting about 5 MPG. Low 10s were fun too but big slicks and wheels are expensive. Now I go out and fire up my GS and use premium unleaded at two plus bucks a gallon get mid 20 MPGs and ride in comfort. Oh and the Mrs. will ride in the VEtte. She hated the Camaro. Priorities my friend, not age, is what matters.

I am resisting performance mods on this one. I am 70. I over did it on the last car. A fourth generation Z28. It made enough power to make it useless on street tires in first and second gear.

almost 60 and the HP bug is as bad as it ever was.

2011 GS new to me in Nov. have installed Kooks LT, Halltec CAI and a tune so far.

Cam and all the other goodies came in yesterday, the install starts Wednesday.

I still love to race and compete and would still race two old cows in a field against each other.

There will come a time that I cannot do this...but it ain't gonna be this decade

I've heard great things about Vengeance Racing. I live in the Midwest and Speed Inc. has been working on my cars for years.

Have fun a the track. The only track I'll be going to for the next couple month is the snowmobile track

I completely understand that some of you guys don't want to do performance modifications to your cars for one reason or another.
Me personally . . . I enjoy the competition and hanging out with buddies on track day.
A few years ago 436 HP seemed like a lot, now the new 5.0 Mustang has the same HP as a C6 GS. Not to mention the 2015 Challenger Hellcat at 707 HP and the 2016 Cadillac CTSV will be a 669 HP.
My feeling is that even if you're not always using it all the time, it's good to know it's up there.

56 years old. Retired last year. Back in 70's thru 80's I would get a car/ camaro/ Chevelle/ nova and old 50's coupes etc...pull out the small motors, throw in big blocks and turbo 400's / reverse manual valve bodies etc...snap off rear end bolts/ Raise hell/run from the small town cops. Party at the drive ins. Find a back road and everyone would just park in a row and drink. Then we would race...sorry that I'm rambling!
On my 4th corvette 2011 Coupe A6/BBK cold air intake/ BBK throttle body/NXT axle back exhaust/160 thermostat/Dyno Tune...I've only had it 3 mo. I've got the wide booty fenders which I will install along with long tube headers this spring...Cheers!

I've been modding cars one way or another since I was 16, I don't see any reason to stop now. They say money cant buy happiness, but it can buy performance car parts, and performance car parts make me happy!!!

Well, just got back from Silver Dollar Raceway: No drag radials so I just drove it off the line about 7-8 car lengths so traction control wouldnt sense tire spin and cut fuel (2.59 60ft). When I got out about 7-8 car lengths, I fed it throttle, got a little tire slippage. Hit the 1/8th at 8.33/104.74mph and the quarter at 11.95 at 137.81 mph!! Will post the time slip sometime tomorrow! The car got squirrely just before the mph clocks so I let off the gas. When I got back to the pits, I discovered coolant had come out of the overflow. The inside of the driver side rim was wet with anti-freeze and I could see droplets on the side of the bottom of the front fender so I guess some had leaked onto the track and was causing the slippage. We checked the oil, tailpipes etc for any sign of maybe a blown head gasket and nothing. Thinking maybe we lifted a head a little?

Been modding cars for many decades....and started drags & auto x as a kid.... but for the first time ever I really don't have the desire to do any major performance mods to this car.....plenty of juice for the street, gets awesome mpg for any basic diving, and still has more grunt than the tires will hold on the track.... but I totally understand the drive to max out the possibilities of performance in these cars, I just don't ever want to see another check engine light after header install, or realize I now only get 10 mpg and I can't hook up after installing 410s....
