Hello! Recently bought a 14 GMC 1500 and wife showed me how to pair Iphone to truck. All works great. I then decided to pair my phone to 13 ZR1. It paired up fine but I can't call a contact by it's name tag, I have to say the phone number. On the GMC I can say "call home" or whatever and it dials that number. On the ZR1 I have to say the actual number. Did I do something wrong or did the Bluetooth improve in 14' on a GM product to be able to call by name tag? I called dealership and asked but they didn't really seem to know the answer. Thanks!!!!!!
Can you say "call home" on your phone and it dials your home when its not connected to Bluetooth? I thought that ability was based on the phone and not the device connecting to it, but I could be wrong.

I can call a name tag into my phone while I am in the car and it will dial through the bluetooth. But when I try to do it through the bluetooth by pushing the button on the steerring wheel it wont recognize the name tag. In the 14' truck you push the button on the wheel and say a name tag and it works perfectly.
It will not download your contacts. You can add contacts into the On Star phone. I just pick up the iPhone and call a contact and let the Bluetooth take over
The Bluetooth system in your '14 truck is going to be considerably more advanced than the one in the vette. Think about the generational gap between the vehicles instead of a year difference.
You can program names into your car however, it is in the manual somewhere. If no one posts instructions by the time I get to s computer I will look it up for you

I seen that in the ZR1 owners manual. But for the life of me I can't figure it out. Says you can name tag about 20 entries I think.
I believe you are confusing,on Stewart phone and blue tooth phone.
In my 13 I say call Linda and it calls my wife. I say call Jason and it calls my son. I had an old cheap flip phone when I got the 13 and it worked. I just inherited my wife's old iPhone 5, because she got an iPhone 6s. It works the same way. I just followed the owners manual directions!
I've got a $70K '15 Sierra Denali HD and my wife has a 15 Acadia Denali which is 16K cheaper but the Acadia system operates easier than the Sierra. Phone call commands basically work the same but that's where the similarities end. GM needs to get all vehicles on the same page which obviously they never will. On the older units you had to verbally enter contacts into memory where the new systems automatically read your phone.

Exactly. On my '13 GS you have to push the call button on the steering wheel, say the word "store" and the system will ask you for a tag or contact and a number, enter it and that name will be stored with the number. Next time you just hit the call button say the word "call" and say the name you wish to call and the system will call it for you.

Thats the info I was looking for. My ZR1 was a early production model, maybe later in 13' they might of changed the system and thats why some cars bluetooth automatically download the contact book
