I have a 2005 manual 6 speed with about 48000 miles. There is a lockout that keeps you from going into reverse while the car is moving forward. My lockout no longer works and you can go into reverse while going forward - NOT Good!! I have not done that as yet but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how easy or difficult is it to repair?
Additionally, I am getting ready to replace my tires and was wondering if I should get new Tire Pressure Sensors. 10 years old! I have had no problem with my original TPS's but I was wondering if there a feeling about replacing them out there.
TPS's - generally have a 10 year life expectance (+/- a couple years). So yes, replace them.
For the Reverse Lockout, check the fuse in the engine compartment fuse block, #13, it's a 25 amp. If that's okay then you probably need to replace the solenoid on the transmission. It can be done DIY but it isn't exactly easy to reach and change by feel only. If you need info on that let us know.
