Well I have to have my front windshield replaced for the first time and have some questions. The first question is I do have HUD (heads up display) but no Navigations/GPS on the radio and I am told it takes two different windshields for these options.
Can anyone tell me if the HUD and GPS windshield are the same and what the difference may be if you have neither? I do not want the wrong windshield going in and then coming right back out do to someone not knowing the difference. I do have my glass guy on it already and he says he knows but the insurance company is claiming one thing and he is claiming another.
There are only 2 different windshields. One for cars with hud and one for cars without. GPS has nothing to do with the windshield. There is an Onstar antenna attached to the windshield at the top to the right of the rear view mirror. That just comes off and is put back in place on the new windshield.
That is what I thought bit out of the three companies they all wanted to know about GPS. I understand the other antennae/Sirius road for as back also.
My glass guy got the correct glass ordered and tomorrow it will go in.

I just had my windshield replace. I have HUD and GPS. The hud glass has film inside the glass to reflect the HUD better. The GPS part of it has a metal bracket as part of the glass. If i didn't have the GPS module, I would not want the gps glass, because it has that bracket there that would look like your missing something.

Here is a picture. Notice the GPS bracket?
I stand corrected. There is a different windshield with that bracket attached. It is for Onstar though, not GPS.
