Default Is this normal?

Trying to install a custom fitted fiberglass subwoofer enclosure in my passenger side cubby. It is not fitting because of this bulge. The bulge is not present on the driver's side cubby. Bad enclosure design? Does your c6 have the same bulge on the passenger side cubby?

Yep it's normal. Do a search and you should find some discussion of why this bump exists.

The Vehicle Communication Interface is behind there.

Found it. For anyone finding this in the future the entire VCIM module can be removed but the J4 connector needs to be jumped in order for the car to start. This thread was helpful.

The VCIM for On star was placed their on the early C6's (z06's with the battery in the back, the VCIM is under the seat instead).
On later models, the VCIM for On star was place behind the glove box instead.

So if you are not using On star, then you can unplug it and jump out the connector.

I don't think mine bulged quite that badly but it was definitely present. Possibly where the righthand gas tank intrudes?

Also, vacuum that crap up.
