Ballast weight under front crossmember, and appears to be an automatic transmission based upon the aluminum pan with the thermocouple in it.
If it is an automatic, more than likely a 727 model, 3 speeds so even H1 could miss that shift too. Just sayin'. If it was a racing application it would have "reverse shift lever" meaning you pull down to shift up into the next gear.
Built many of them in the time I spent working in the transmission lab at Chrysler engineering back in the day.

....nothing wrong wid a 727 Torqueflite tranny....... maybe the strongest slushbox ever...... could handle upwards of a 1000 hp....... went into service in 1962 all the way to the late 80's...... I wish they had done an overdrive 4th gear on them....

...The Jug....
Burning Brakes
Ballast also has a tow eye at the front probably to help load it into a trailor or on to a truck ramp with a winch. Not sure why but that car is running exhaust mufflers (they look like Flow Masters). It also has non stock disc brakes on the front. 727 was basically a three speed planetary gear box with a torque converter. Early models used bearings in critical areas with later models going to bushings. The case was fairly strong but as power crept up blankets or metal SFI rated shields were mandatory. All things considered, that transmision changed the drag racing world for ever. The mighty 4 speed was more fun but the automatic won races and was easier on drivetrains. For Robert, yes! that's an accessory transmission oil pan but, the tall injection stacks also are a give away of the transmission type. 4 speeds got much shorter injection stacks.

Just came out of Lowes from purchasing dishwasher install supplies, and what did I spy out in the hinterlands by my truck:
The limo tint job was pretty ugly but the rest of the car appeared to be decent.

...ok.... that looks like a 65 or 66 Dodge Dart GT .... 273 CI with up to 235 hp with the optional 4 BBL carb...... thinking they call that an A body....... the Polara is a B body.... and the C bodies were the big dog Chryslers like the New Yorker and the 300 along with the Dodge Monaco and Plymouth Fury and Sport Fury..... 65 was the last year for the 413... and was replaced by the 440 in 66. Here is something I did not know, and that is they had a Hurst addition 300 of which only 485 were made...... I have never ever seen one. 375 hp 440 with the Gold on white paint scheme....... amazing....

Not exactly the right car maybe..... but she was a cool Granny driving that beast...... reminds me of my Grandma.... she went to get a new Ford because she knew the Ford Dealers family...... they set her up with a 66 silver Galaxie 500 2 door with red interior and a 390 engine..... it was just a car to her but us kids thought it was the coolest ever.....
