I think it needs a steering rack. The dealer says they all rattle and click from a steering positioning sensor. It's a dealer that sells a lot of corvettes I am told. May just trade it I for something from Germany that steers. Fighting with a dealer kills the joy of ownership.
Clearly, your dealer is lying. Full stop.
Even so, not every car is best for everyone. Right or wrong, you've been soured on the Corvette, so its best to cut your losses and move on to a car that you think is more to your liking. Like most of us here, if cars are your passion, then living with one you have decided you don't like is akin to torture, and its time to go.
I've owned BMW & MB in the past, and have looked at new German cars more than a few times to try to find something comparable to the price/performance of the Corvette, and found nothing even close. True, some mid-price ($50K) models truly excel at handling, only to be hobbled by meager Honda Accord-type horsepower ratings (I'm looking right at you, Boxster!)
I just am not well-off enough to play in the German performance field, but congrats to you if you are.
The dealer says that the steering should click and rattle. That they all do it. I have been driving it and I am not impressed with the noisy sloppy steering. Don't really like the clutch and shifter feel either. Its obvious that you all love your corvettes but mine seems cheaply made. I will not be a long term owner.
Yours needs at least one part. This has nothing to do with how well or not it's made.
If you are sick of GM as a company, we're in perfect agreement. If you're sick of GM due to the car's steering, then we're not.
We came to our C6 after several Porsches and I'm more than satisfied with the steering accuracy and feel. It's not just me too. Three of us at my club independently moved from Porsche to Corvette (my C6 and two guys got C7 Z06's). All of us have no regrets nor are we looking back.
IMO, the Corvette is sadly let down by being vended by Chevy dealers who are used to and only seem to know bottom feeders. This marque needs its own dealer net or a store within a store.
LOL....welcome to the world of Corvette uralman. And contrary to what a lot of the people are saying, no its not just you. After owning multiple Corvettes over many years I learned years ago that while they are a fantastic car to own....fun...fast....and all the other things that go with it, they have been....esp over the past 20-30 years one of the cheapest made cars GM has offered. While mechanically they are somewhat sound for the most part....there are all kinds of little things that can/do/will break along the line. The list of regular problems over the past years is way to long to get into here, but cheapness of interiors and electrical problems are just a few. Of course you will have your "in denial" Vette lovers that say that their car is the greatest thing ever made...but...well....there ya have it. I love mine and all the Vettes I've ever had and will always own one as long as I can mash the right pedal....but they are not what I would call GM's finest hour in car manufacturing. Got to go now to make room for all the e mail rants I now expect after this post....lOL.
So, Windy, what would you call GM's finest hour in manufacturing? Or what would you call any other manufacturer's finest hour in a comparably priced sports car? Just wondering since you seem to have some fairly strong opinions. What's your supporting data?
What good is a warranty if the dealers suck. I even found a service bulletin from Gm on this problem. The cars are only as good as the dealers. If the dealers suck what does that say about the product it sells.
How many dealers have you had address this problem? How does the integrity of an individual dealer have any bearing on the quality of the product? Your reasoning is illogical. Either you are not addressing the problem aggressively enough with the dealers or you haven't figured out that you need to go to Chevrolet customer service or you are just one more princess with a pea under your mattress. Stop being a whiner and do something.

I am not whining. I am saying that I have fight with a dealer to fix a $50k car. And I am sick of the quality issues with Gm products. If a steering rack on a new car is good then I am pleased. My Gmc Yukon has valve issues. My brothers Equinox needed a new engine. I always bought Gm because my father was a Gm guy. But their products suck and you need to be Bruce Lee to get them to fix them. This is why they lost so much market share to the Asian and German companies.
I have had almost ever problem listed here on the forum with the exception of the balancer and blow injectors! Every creak, but tanks dropped, one for fuel pump gasket, one for bad sender, headlight failure, SCM, wiring harness failures and on and on.
Now that said, I had some of the exact same issues with my E320. Drivers door lock failure on both, seat control modules, etc. Both daily drivers, both 144k+ miles. Just a pain in the butt to own a car sometimes.

Ok...knowing nothing more than you have 2 GM vehicles with "issues" and your brother's GM vehicle "needed a new engine" I will repeat my earlier advice. Sell the GM vehicles and move on.
If you had come here describing your problem you would have received lots of help. Instead you came here and complained that you think all Corvettes spend more time being fixed than driven. And this was before you had even taken it in to be checked out.
I call that whining....don't you?
Exactly what is the problem? Explain to us when it makes noise and what kind of noise. Might be normal, might not be normal.
Mine makes some noise when going very slow and at full lock. That is normal for a car with wide tires...scrubbing.
I owned a c4 for 15 years and bought a new c6 in 2013.
Is it me or does anyone else spend more time with repairs than driving.
My first (2001) purchased Sept 11, 2000 was like that. Every couple weeks in the shop. I could not believe people paig over 50k for this crap. All fixed under warranty. The 2003 came out, 50th Annv so I took a chance on a first ever 0 % finance thru GMAC and got rid of the 2001. The QC was much better except for the leaking rear seals. The dealer in Dayton Oh has a great Corvette team and fixed never to return the leaking seals. My 2013 and last corvette is nearing 13000 miles has been trouble free. The issues will pass, just enjoy the ride while you can. It's an awesome car

I call it 40 years of poorly made vehicles. The corvette is the last Gm car I will ever buy.
And I took it to the dealer only to be dismissed. The dealers suck. The corvette is fast and looks great but it's a Gm product. People are fans of these cars and overlook the poor quality and bad service. Just like the Fans of a bad ball team keep coming back.

If you approached the dealer the way you approach people here, it's no wonder they don't feel like helping you.
Several years ago, the Honda I had needed a new transmission. It was a couple thousand miles out of warranty and the dealer wouldn't cover it. Therefore all Honda cars and their dealer network suck. My BMW 335i was absolutely trouble free for 60k miles, therefore BMWs must be perfect....oh wait, my 328d spent 3 of the first 5 weeks I had it in the shop and the dealer was clueless on the repair, I guess BMW does suck. A friend of mine at work needed a new engine in his Miata....i guess Mazda sucks.
German cars have plenty of problems as well. All cars do. The amount of cheap plastic on the interior of my wife's Mercedes is staggering. So far the plastic block in the steering column that locks the tilt wheel has snapped and the plastic clip that holds the decorative cover around the shifter has broken. Each crappy part cost over $300. I did my own labor but imagine the dealer cost to slap them back in. Add to that the secondary cats that came apart internally and cost $1400 and I say good luck with your well made German luxury cars. Almost all cars are made on a production line and all are trying to keep the cost as low as they can for the technology provided. Unless you buy a Rolls or a Bentley, you are not getting the best money can buy from anybody. I will say the Mercedes dealers treat you like gold and the GM guys are not even in the same league, but cars break down if driven. All of them.
By the way, the most reliable, comfortable, well built and totally boring car we have is a 2013 Camry.
