Ok everyone, its done nd here are the details...
1. temps quoted were what I was reading on the dic, trans:198, oil:212, analog coolant temp pegged at 0, digital temp gauge: coolant temp XXX
2. Finally got it home after a 4 hour wait. Two trucks came and niether had a battery jumper box. A jump was needed after siting running the flashers constantly and the accessory mode intermitently put a drain on a battery going bad.
3. Replaced both the battery and temp sensor and ran car for 30 min to get the temps up; no problems.
Thanks for all your insights. Just one more question...
Will the tire pressures reset themselves? They are all reading 0 psi.

Your windows will need to be initialized (re-indexed), if the dealer or whoever worked on your car didn't do it for you.
