Default O7 Dilemma ?

Found 07 out of Warranty, has 3LT & more, was part of a collection! Car has only 2,284 miles!!! Car is a red coupe beauty, rated excellent inside & out, car of my dreams! Concerned that it's 9 yrs old without any Warranty!! I have read hear that the best vette to buy is the one you like & that fits your budget & some vettes have problems & some don't !!
I have also read the best vette to buy is the newer the better! This vette to me is NEW, Older year 07 but no miles !
What does the Forum think??
Buy 07 No miles or Buy Newer with more miles?

Lots of 07 owners here have had few problems with them.
My 07 has been stellar. 154,000 miles so far. Best corvette I gave owned.

Have it checked out by a trusted mechanic to make sure it gas not been in a collision. I would suggest replacing the battery and changing all fluids.

My 07 was purchased new by me and has been out of warranty for years. 6,300 miles. Never any issues except for the oil pan. The question is: how much are you paying and/or willing to pay? That will determine the car you can consider. There are a lot of other questions.....

I never can understand why some folks are hung up about a warranty. I never buy extended warranties after the factory warranty expires. If you're worried about repairs, open a little account that you put money in and pay for the repair if there is one. 10 to 1 there won't be and you'll come out the winner.

I bought my 2nd Vette, an 07 coupe, at 2 years old and 20k miles. I owned it 2-1/2 years, added 40k miles, and the only thing I did besides routine maintenance was to put a set of tires on it. I wouldn't be too concerned.

I just bought an 08 with 12K miles. It's like new too. I owned a 2013 before and my 08 drives and feels almost exactly like the new one. I wouldn't have any issues buying what you describe.

What's the difference in price between the 07 and whatever newer one you are considering?

If the 07 is the color or has the options you'd like, I'd buy it and set aside the money saved in an account for potential repairs. But doubt you'll have many, at least for a few years until the mileage grows.

Agreed. Just like said before; Replace all fluids, battery and check oil pan gasket and harmonic balancer.

In all the years I have bought new or used cars, I have never bought a warranty and have never had issues.

The statement to buy the newest, lowest mileage, best optioned car in your budget is valid but if that means an 05-07, you can't really go wrong. They are just as solid as the 08 and above.

Some guys are really hung up on the extra HP the LS3 provides but compared to the newest HP offerings, the LS3 is just as dated. Of course, if you have to have it, then hold out. I don't use the HP in my LS2 as it stands so don't see a need for more.

If it's everything you are looking for, go for it.

The first thing I did after purchase of my 07 was to remove the tacky 15-cent chicklets!

If you replace the rubber items and all fluids, the 2007 will be a new car. fluids are easy and cheap. As soon as you can, do belts and hoses and then tires. I can't think of anything else that would have any problems due to age or sitting.
And, very few people can tell the difference between an LS2 and an LS3 while driving (36hp difference).

Steve, I bought my '07 in 2010 with only 1600 miles. Haven't had any problems with the car. Yes as suggested, you may want to look for tire dry rot, belts, hoses etc. I would look at changing the fluids. And if it's like mine you will need to change the differential fluid. That stuff was crap from the factory. I know this thought is subjective, but you shouldn't have to worry about any major problems. Good luck on your decision.

BTW, with a little mechanical ability most of that stuff can be a DIY project in your driveway.
