I never bought extended warranties on any of the 25 vette I have owned and never have had the need to actually ever needed one.

I figure that the amount I saved by not buying them paid for my 2007 Z51 3LT convert in full from the savings, it had 2,751 miles on it when I bought it. The only things that have needed to be fixed or replaced since the car was new were the trunk gas struts and one battery.

I always go for low mile cars and that is something that is more valuable for the buyer than the year.

I don't usually get a warranty. But just feel better about getting one for the 07 I bought three weeks ago. Went through Ken Fichtner at kenfichtner@dennymenholt.com. Have just under 18,000 miles, got a 36,000 mile, zero deductible, Platinum warranty for under $2k.

There is really nothing to check that a good long test drive won't show, imo. Change the oil/filter and diff fluid....

You do not want a C6 with low miles and in great shape. You should be looking at high mileage, modded out, daily drivers that have never had the oil changed. Now get back out there and leave those low mileage junkers for me.

I bought my 2007 brand new and have 30,300 miles. Only issue was a leaking oil pan gasket and the harmonic balancer. Everything else has been maintenance and some modifications.

If the price is right the go for it. By the way, if the price isn't right I would look for a 2008 or newer. 2008 had several modifications that are worth a slight price premium.

Oh, if you get it replace the GY Eagle Run flats with something else, there are several better options available. You may want to flush and change fluids. I did mine earlier this year. Probably be wise to change the battery.

Buy 07 No miles or Buy Newer with more miles?
Perhaps 95% of the things that go wrong with these cars are the same things. Fuel gauge, wobbling balancer, climate control display, rattling cowl, clunking anti-roll bars, clicking axles, stinky A/C, loose starter nut, droopy hood/hatch struts, etc. None of those problems will strand you, and in the grand scheme of things most of them are cheap to fix.

Even if you end up experiencing every one of those problems, but assuming you actually drive the car, your number one maintenance cost item will be tires. And tires will still cost less than fuel and insurance.

One thing to check: some early '07 Coupes were subject to the roof recall. The replacement roofs were painted by the dealer, and some dealers did _not_ do a good job. Inspect the paintwork carefully.

But that would destroy the resale value and collectability of your car.

What cracks me up is I see people that post about removing the ugly little chicklets and then they turn around and stick on a bunch of other decals and things that look like they came from the J. C. Whitney Accessory catalog.

If you really like the car, buy an aftermarket warranty.

I don't sweat warranties. Though I'm lucky and can do most repairs myself.

When I had a 100 mile round trip commute I purchased and old beater car to keep the miles down on my new car I had at the time. I was already pretty good working on cars but that SOB kept me hopping fixing and trouble shooting problems. I even rebuild the 5 speed manual in it. I could not imaging having to pay someone to do all that work...
