to those that have lowered on their stock bolts, what is the maximum amount one can expect to lower the car. I'm looking for approx 1- 1 1/2"

you won't get that with stock bolts only. If you cut the bushings you might get that. I think the most with the stock bolts is around 3/4 of an inch.
You can always go with the after market bolts, but I have read a lot of complaints about them after they are in for a while.

Ya....1/2 to 3/4 inch is about it.......I wish it was a full inch or better........but really I don't want to sacrifice ride quality......I think maybe 20" wheels on the back and 19's on front would help close up the gap a bit..........I been thinking about that.......

Wheel diameter does not change tire diameter which is what closes the gap.
You'd have to go with taller tires, within reason of course.

98 with front stock bolts all the way in and rear bolts cut to second metal pad dropped about an inch. That was compared to a vert of same year and measured from the wheel centerline to fender.

If you stick to the same tire size and ratio you will gain an overall height of an inch. A stock rear tire is a 285/19/35 on the base On the stock wheel it is 26.9 inches tall. The same tire on a 20 inch wheel is 27.9 inches tall.

I think what happens in most cases is people go to the bigger wheels and change the tire size all the way. If in this case you go from the base size and only change that aspect ratio for the 35 to say a 30 then you will not gain any over all height, in fact you will lose a tenth of an inch and if you go to say a 25, you will lose over an inch.

Measured two cars yesterday. The front was 3/4" lower and the rear was 1" lower. Stock bolts with bushings cut one ring showing to prevent the bolt platform from metal to metal on the lower control arm. I have not installed aftermarket bolts to compare the two bolt results.

Thanks for feedback guys, I think I'll stick with stock bolts, trim bushings per cmonkey's suggestion seems to make the most sense.

That is what i did. Lowered all four corners on the stock bolts and cut one rear bushing.
