Never understood the whole roll racing idea. Either go to the drag strip and race the proper way or go to a road course and race that way. This stuff were two cars are driving along and you go on the third beep or what ever is just plain dumb in my opinion. Besides the guy beeping the horn has the advantages all the time.

I guess I am just old school.
racing is racing I enjoy all types
At least the roll racing typically leaves a lot of other stuff out of the equation to see who's car is the fastest. Better driver, better tire, better suspension can all make a weaker car appear faster on a drag strip. I'm all for that but sometimes I like to know variables aside, who's got the quicker car. That's where roll racing comes in (or at least a longer drag race (e.g. 1/2 mile or 1 mile run)).
Checked out the link, and didn't see anything about "roll racing". On the surface it appears to be a well organized event. Located on an airport is a cool location for it.
Glad it wasn't a street race, because that is truly stupid.

Look under registration, $245 for the roll racing event.

well said...racing is racing, just different ways of doing it

$245 is nothing compared to the costs of penalties of driving 150-250+mph on public roads. It's another way for people to enjoy driving their car. Some like 1/4 or road racing, while others like 1/2 to hit higher speeds that neither of those 2 provide. It's also safer to do this side by side with 1 car vs weaving in n out of traffic on streets and highways at extremely high speeds. No 3 beeps here either, there are markers on the ground that indicate when it's go time, you just need to be side by side when it happens or it doesn't count. This is also a chance for speed shops to showcase their stuff to the public in hopes of getting more business.
Look up silver state classic in Nevada. 90 miles of going as fast as you want on a closed off road. Record holder should still be 240mph avg speed. Happens 2x a year. The salt flats too. Variety is nice to have.

100% correct...It will determine who's car is faster but old school from a dig proves who is a better driver Both are fun...as long as it is on a track...

Want to know better driver? Put them in same car with same power levels and see who's faster. A crap driver in an 11sec car and a pro in a 16 sec car and you're going to tell me that because the 11sec car ran a 14 and beat the 16sec car he's the better driver...yeah okay

only if both cars are equal...
besides, the cars might measure up differently at a roll and from a dig.
