Recently I have started to feel foolish when I'm in my vette. It draws a lot of attention as you guys know and peoples reactions to it has started to bother me. I'm 63 now and though most everyone likes the car they react to me with disdain. It's "oh look another old guy trying to hang onto his youth" or younger women doing all they can to catch up to me only to look over with a reaction of disappointment its an older guy's vette. I know-who cares what others think? Well we all care to some degree or you would be alone your whole life. Anyway just wondered if anyone else is dealing with this. You younger guys 'do you get negative reactions for other reasons?
When I had my first vette about 10 years ago, I was 24 and was given a hard time by people about how I could afford the car at a young age. People would joke about my mid-life crisis car, but in the end the car provided a much more positive experience than negative and I bought it because it's what I wanted and made ME happy.
There will always be negative comments no matter what you buy. In the end, you bought the car for a reason and that's all that really matters.
I'm 63 and haven't really noticed or would I care particularly.
But a mere child of 70 here and I haven't heard anything. Well, actually, I haven't heard anything, period. Damn, do I need hearing aids?
Actually, I do have a pair my wife bought...but would you guys wear these???

Don't worry too much about it. Most Vettes here in FL are driven by fossils under the speed limit and 60+ is pretty old, like McDonald's senior-discount old but if you've made it that far, what does it matter what anyone thinks? It's your life, err, what's left of it so enjoy!

I get some odd responses to me, as well. Not so much of the age issue, but the sex issue. I didn't buy the car to impress, so why should I worry about what they think? They are just looks of jealousy, anyway.
56 years old here and it really bothers me when I Hear "mid life crisis". I wish I did not care but I must because it gets to me. My wife of 32 years looks prettier to me now than she ever did. I am healthier than ever. My kids are doing great. My retirement is secure. There is no crisis here and I resent people assuming that I am compensating for some problem. I have always had cool cars and this is my dream. Some people just don't understand and for some lame reason, I care.

63 here as well and truthfully, it doesn't matter what people think about me and my Corvette. It's simply the best car I've ever had so I'm not about to let anybody influence how I feel while driving it.
If people don't like you, it makes no difference whether or not you have a Corvette.
I get the mid life crisis thing once in awhile but I've liked and owned sports cars my entire life. It's not so much what others say but how I feel. On occasion, I get the thought in my mind that I should be driving something less flashy but it comes down to enjoying the car so I get over it.
Exactly. Same here. I even welcomed "Midlife Crisis car" as a trophy of others' jealousy.
I know that in the future, my offspring will be asking me about life before Google electric cars and I'll tell them how I used to crank my obnoxious Corvette in the morning, a little rough idle, a lot of gas smell and shaking in the cabin until the beast cought it's breath and how I would drive it past the senior center with my amazeballs exhaust and half the fossils there drop their canes every time.

I've been a Vette enthusiast since 16, now I'm 55 ... don't really care what other's think or don't think, I own and drive them for my own enjoyment and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with other's that feel the same.
Heard, it said first impressions are what matter. I don't polish the toes of my shoes for meeting people. And won't polish heels to to help my image as i walk away.
The car is for me and makes me feel 18 again. Some would say it's a crutch, I say I'll take a pair. ....closer to 69 than 68
Another young guy here. I get all kinds of weird reactions from all kinds of people. And I don't give a single ****. I honestly think i get more weird reactions than old vette guys. Hell even the looks i get from other vette people are funny.
I've been in to fast cars since forever. I bought the vette for the price to performance ratio. I just smile, nod and drive off like I stole it. (most probably think I did lmao)
