Also with Verts a pocket knife is all that's needed to get into your car in a parking lot. I have also heard stories of people throwing cigaret buts into peoples Verts at stop lights.
Yes I always try to park my convertible in a well-lit area that is both accessible and visible by lots of people. But I guess that is a good idea for any car...
Love convertibles; but won't own one due to an incident a friend had several years ago. He had fully restored a '67 Mustang convertible; went to dinner one night (at a fairly nice restaurant) and when he came out, someone had knifed his top as well as the tops of two other convertibles in the parking lot. Unfortunately, the incident has impacted my decision to own one to this day ...

That's why I don't keep anything of value in mine, and generally park with the vehicle in view, and the windows open or the top down. Hopefully that lets a thief know they are wasting their time.
Lets face it. If some one really wants into a car, they'll get in, rag top or not. A simple pointed rock, or hammer, etc and they are in, no matter what you are driving. And if they are just trying to be malicious, there is nothing to prevent them from all sorts of vandalism.

Those are terrible reasons for not buying a convertible. Of course such things happen, but cars are also keyed, windows are smashed, tires are punctured, etc. If some lowlife wants to get his rocks off by damaging your Corvette, having a coupe won't stop him.
I rarely put up my top when I park, unless I'm in a suspicious part of town. Yes, I've heard stories of people dumping drinks or throwing garbage into open cars, but I refuse to let such people keep me from enjoying the very best thing about my car. I guess I've been lucky; I've owned many convertibles and have never had any vandalism. But even if I did, it wouldn't change my mind about owning one. My nephew's Escalade got keyed just the other day, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't drive cars with nice paint.

Very well put "vert"......LOL. You are absolutely correct that if someone wants to get you....they are gonna get you. I've been lucky in having nothing bad happen to mine, but i must admit that its not a DD and I never park it where its un-attended for very long. Thats a nice looking oldie but goodie there in your pic.

I've also heard a ball bat will get you into a coupe. And if someone throws a gig into my car the gun shot will get 'em before the smoking does. Basically I don't understand the reason for your post.

Thanks. I have to admit that I was a lot more cautious about parking that one, because it stood out like a flashing light, was easy to steal, and was more valuable than my C6. In fact, that was one of the reasons I sold it and bought the C6; whenever I parked the C2, I worried about it. But man, it was beautiful. The best Corvette of all, in my opinion.

You sold it to get a C-6 ???.....SHAME...SHAME....SHAME ON YOU !!!!!!.....LOL. But your opinion is spot on. They are by far the essence of the word Corvette. These newer ones are OK for what they are, of course they are better handling, and the have all the new techno S#$T...(that breaks all the time)...but i'll take that beauty you had there any day. I do have to admit that I have a soft spot for a 58 also. If a good deal on either a 58 or one like you show there ever falls in my lap I doubt I'll be able to pass it up.
I was looking at trading to a convertible a few months ago and found one at a local Carmax. I factored in the lousy trade price they offered me, taxes, and license. Wasn't worth it.
