I like my '05 Corvette Targa top but always wanted a vert. Am I crazy to even ponder the switch. Mine has 55K and runs very well. Is it possible to get a vert as an even trade with the same options as mine..Nav, Sport Suspension, leather, etc and about the same mileage?
I can understand your want for a Vert brother. It may be possible to find a comparable Vert you can trade your's for at even money, but highly improbable. Vert are usually higher anywhere you look. But, you never know until you start the search. Good luck

I'm with ya brother, if I could get rid of mine for a vert with an automatic I would do it in a heartbeat. I just don't want to spend any more money on these toys.

And I HEAR YOU! Although....I would want a manual but that's personal choice.
My first three Vettes were all coupes with pop tops; they worked BUT when you got above 35 or so, the wind would whip around inside, with no other place to exit, my C6 GS Conv makes the drive with the top down much more relaxed....
They really did a great job with the convertible top. I like the power top option, also. It is the most quiet convertible that I've owned, both with the top up and down.
And the tops seem to last forever! My car is 9 years old and the top looks like new!

Black top I guess? My tan top looked bad after 1 year. Creases looked like dirty spots. I even used Ragg Top cleaner and protector.
I love my convertible, as it makes the Corvette experience even more dramatic for me. But they make both kinds so buyers can choose the one they prefer.
As to trading, I assume you mean selling and buying at the same price. It is very difficult to find someone with exactly the car you want, who also wants your car and is willing to trade. I agree that you'd be lucky to find an even trade, because "when the top goes down, the price goes up," but you never know. If you wait until late fall or winter, you might find a seller who needs to sell fast and there are no other ready buyers. I would assume that a convertible is a tougher sell in the winter where you live (CT).
Just keep checking all the usual places (this forum, Craigslist, eBay, and all the many online car sale sites), get a good feel for what your own car is worth (remembering that the advertised prices are not the actual sale prices), and then look for a similar convertible at that price.
Had a 2002 MY C5 coupe and was working for GM so got a 2008 vert at employee price. Lucky I did GM divested our division a little later but I still have the vert.

One thing to remember is that if you ever want to track the car or even take a hooked on driving class, most places, at least in my area, insist on a roll bar.

Lake Worth is cool, cute place/downtown.
OP, I thought the same things sometimes with my love for Millennium Yellow, but a dealer will want a couple to a few g's if their a horse a piece. Only way I can see it happening is if the vert would be the same year with 80K on the clock and your sled is immaculate with new tires. Try saving up a few grand talks.

Also with Verts a pocket knife is all that's needed to get into your car in a parking lot. I have also heard stories of people throwing cigaret buts into peoples Verts at stop lights.

This falls into the category of "in denial...or too bias to admit it"....LOL. Of course its a matter of preference, But I know quite a few coupe owners that wish they had a vert. But I don't know one vert owner that wishes he had a coupe. Take your time and you'll find what you want.
