Saw a 2010 Corvette for sale today. It is actually at a dealership where two of my friends work. It's a yellow base model vette, and get this, with only 3000 miles on it. One owner, just never really drove it. They were asking 38, I have them down to 34.5. The car is brand new basically.
I currently have a 2015 Mustang GT that I love, but the performance of the vette is just ridiculous. I'm having a hard time convincing myself not to pull the trigger and go with the Vette. What do you guys think?
The new Mustang is a pretty nice car, but it's nowhere near a Corvette. I know it's tough getting rid of a new car to go with an older one, 5 years older at that, but you'll probably enjoy the Vette more. And only 3000 miles? It's practically brand new. Probably would be near an even trade too would it not?
I still think it's a tad high on pricing. How optioned out is it? I bought my 2010 2 years ago for upper 30s and it's a fully optioned 3LT (NPP, PAL, NAV, etc.). I don't care if the car has 200 miles, it's still a 5 year old car that sat for years.
Get an insurance quote for the Vette to see if the new rate makes a difference to you. And of course you'll lose the back seat (small as it is) in the Vette.
Those two things aside, I think you'll like the Vette far more than the Mustang (and I like Mustangs, and have had a couple). You will be much less likely to see yourself coming around the corner in the Vette.
If you frequently compare your car to a Vette, that means you see the Vette as the best...the 'Merican car all other's strive to beat!
Get the Vette, it's a nice feeling...just remember that you have to drive it a little more responsibly because if you unleash it recklessly, it will try to kill you (its a natural beast instinct)!
Mine is just a base coupe and it will try to kill me if I give it the chance. Regardless, I love it, no regrets!
Bunch of Corvette snobs up in this thread. They have about the same power and the Mustang is heavier by about 300 or so pounds. People are acting like it's a Prius being compared to an F1 car. Ask the Mustang forums and people will call you crazy for considering a car that is five years older.
Don't listen to other people, just do what makes you happy. Whichever car just grabs you when you drive it (and look at it, sit in it, all that good stuff) is the car that you should go with.
One thing not mentioned yet: depreciation. The new Mustang will take a huge hit in value its first five years of life, while the Corvette has already taken that hit, so it will devalue much less in the next five years.

I'd be hard pressed to move back 5 years. You have a nice GT, under warranty, with all the latest tech...your call
I bought a 2010 base jetstream blue coupe a couple months ago with only 1800 miles on the clock, I paid a premium but it was worth it... I wanted a new one 5 years ago but couldn't afford it, now I can and I feel like I finally got my "new" car... even though it is 5 years old.

ditto, whatever puts the bigger smile on your face.
I went from a problem filled 11 mustang GT to an 08 vette 2 months ago $30k with 30,000 miles...I would have loved to pay $4 more for a 10.
I've owned 7 Mustangs (still own an '87 T-top GT) but there's just nothing like a Vette.
And, you'd actually be surprised at the respect Vettes get on the Mustang forums. I think a lot of them would lean towards the Vette as well. I've seen threads asking the same type of question, and was surprised at the responses over there.
Yes...you would love the Vette... but with a 2015 Mustang you are gonna get raped on trade-in unless you wanna keep both cars.
As much as you want to do "what makes you happy", you will lose a ton of money on the Mustang. I say drive the Mustang for a couple years, then start looking for a Corvette. There are "Garage Queens" out there everyday. Good luck on your decision.
