Hi guys.
My 2008 auto-run some errands yesterday morning with no problem.
Few houers later-nada,dead.
Battery is OK (13.8V),lights come on etc.
But-I had to get to the car from the trunk pulling the door open line.
It's not a dead FOB,since when you try to open the door, the door light comes on for few sec and there is NO normal 3 horn sound.
I can't even turn the accessory on with the start switch.
I'm gonna replace the starter switch tonight (I have a spare),but if that's not it,then I'm stuck in the garage.
Any way to put the 12v to the transmission lever solenoid (w/o taking the whole tunel trims off),so I can put her in neutral and roll out of garage and have it towed?
Thanks.

The fob battery might still be low enough not to transmit. Have you tried putting the fob in the glove box slot and see if it will start? Also, is anything showing up on the DIC when you press start? Usually it will tell you what the problem is. I would also try disconnecting the battery for a minute and then reconnecting and see what that does. Please keep us posted.

thanks bro.
Yes,I did put the FOB in the glove box slot few times.
Also,nothing on the DIC.
I did disconnect the battery for a min, nada.
Also, while in the car,for example the seat power works, but the door lock doesn't.
I had a dead battery before, but the symptoms are completely different-it's like starting/ignition circuit is locked up.
Also pu new FOB battery.

There've been numerous reports over the years starter wires get brittle, even burned in hotter climates, causing weird non-start symptoms.
Might want to get under the car & physically check the starter wiring for integrity.
Just a suggestion based on these reports, before throwing money at the problem.

How do you that your battery was at 13.8? Put a good tender on it and let it charge up. You probably have low voltage and these cars don't like it.

I put the meter on it.
One would think that if the battery has enough juice to move the seats and turn the headlights on,it would unlock the doors?
When I sit inside, the only way I can get out is thru the emergency realease.
WTH
Just try a known good battery in the car first. These cars do crazy things when the battery is low. If you just check the voltage with a meter, there is not much load on the battery.
I replaced my battery at the first sign of trouble, and it has been fine ever since.
UPDATE!!
So,after my troubles last night, and same problem this morning before I went to work in my F150 came back home ready to replace starter switch (no biggie).
Walked into garage and touched the vette door pad-the car beeped 3 times (as it should) and I KNEW it's gonna start.Last night that door was DEAD!
Sure enough,started right up,strong.
I left the car over day with NO TENDER,nothing!!!
It's a good news and bad-still can't find what happened.
I'm pretty sure though that it has to be some stuck relay that confused the starting system, and since door locks would not work from inside and out it would indicate that the computer would think the engine is running......
It makes NO SENSE otherwise for the engine to crank almost a day later with nothing done to it.
Also the DIC being dead and no way to turn the accessory mode on was indicating same.
FWIW
Sometime there are glitches that take a few cycles to clear. Maybe?
I had my car not move when I gave it gas after backing out of the garage. Eng reved to 2500 then it slammed into gear. Shut it off and restarted but it would not go forward. Could not make it up my driveway, had to back it up. Called tow service and went to transmission shop. Went to back it off flatbed and everything was normal, even drive. Had it serviced and checked anyway. Nothing wrong , and has never done it again.
13.8 volts at the battery? I'd have to question that to start with...
Me too...unless the engine is running, it would be difficult for the battery to be showing 13.8. Also, I've never heard of the car beeping three times when squeezing the doorpad to open the door.
hope so
problem with my case was no ability to even put the tranny in neutral,so could have it towed.
What if it happened in town? talk about being screwed

Oh,really??
ARE you saying that I'm lying? Easy to do in the armchair and over keyboard huh?
I suggest you leave your FOB in house, come to the car and try to open the door-you MAY learn something

This first thing I would do is get the battery load-tested. The voltage shown doesn't mean much.
If the battery tests okay, then you can rule that out as being the problem.

I hear three beeps everytime I forget the remote.
Alarm also goes off using the pull in the hatch. Think it is with any electrical power draw.
I think he ment with the remote and door opening he had not heard the 3 beeps.
If it happens in town I bet you could somehow shift into N from under the car. Might have to have a tow truck lift the rear end up.

I don't lock my car when it is in my garage, but for the sake of experimenting, I locked it, then left the fob in the house, went out and tried to open the door. The dash makes the standard clicking noise and the LED on the top of the door comes on to show that the door is locked. Just to be clear, I said " I've never heard of the car beeping three times when squeezing the doorpad to open the door"...and I still never have. Also, if a car battery is showing 13.8 volts with the engine off, there is something wrong with that battery.
