Default Problem

I'm here at work and don't have the time to do research yet, but I'll quickly describe the problem. I heard a small pop and a short squeal when I started up the car yesterday. Everything seemed OK so I went to work. Today I get a call from the wife that there's a puddle of fluid on the garage floor, pinkish in color from under where the motor would be. The car is operating ok and I can't see anything here at work dripping, or any puddle. I'd be grateful for a response from anyone who has encountered this pop and squeal. Thanks

Wow, no pics of said puddle? You already checked the usual suspects, overflow tank ps reservoir, master cylinder reservoir? Pinkish color doesn't sound familiar, transmission fluid could resemble that, transmission oil line leak, oil cooler if present?

the puddle is on his garage floor not at work as he explained. I'm sure when he gets home he will send in a picture.

Pink is coolant. If there is a puddle then it should be easy to find the leak. Typical in order of seriousness would be hose or water pump or radiator.

Follow your nose, oils and coolant smell quite different.

The squeal noise could be the belt slipping due to having coolant on it. Not sure about the pop noise though.

Silly Girls...
What brand of coolant is pink?

Mine is GM - Orange. Most is florescent greenish yellow.

Pink - I would look for Power steering and ATF.
I had a crack in my PS pump reservoir. The PS worked fine but fluid would leak everywhere.

Happened to me a few months back, puddle on the garage floor and a belt squeal due to a leaking water pump. WP failures are fairly common with the C6

Alrighty then, I got a look at the puddle, soaked up some with a paper towel and it's definitely pink. I used an eyedropper and sucked up enough to put into a small cup. It's without a doubt pink. I had some Dexcool and poured out a small amount and it's orange. Next move, I sucked up some from the coolant tank and it's pink. This car was bought used about a year ago with only 18K miles on it. Someone before me might have messed with it. It's hard to pinpoint where it's coming from. Its off to the doctor Monday unless I can get a better look at it this weekend. For now, I'm bummed.

Same thing happened to me at approx. 30K miles. It was the water pump seal leaking...but not all the time, and the level in the reservoir was not noticeable low. The belt pulleys were a bit wet from coolant, so that was the first clue. A pressure test (24hrs) finally showed the coolant leaking from behind the pulley.

Changed out the pump, no more issues.
