My two-car garage has one wide door (I think 16 feet) and I have what has to be less than two feet between my car and hers. If I dinged her door, she'd kill me. So I have to crawl out the best I can with my door at the fist detent. It's not easy.
Same story here - less than two feet between the cars, just have to be careful. And just a reminder: it's easier to exit the Corvette in tight quarters with the side windows down.

This is why I required an 18' door in my new house, plus 3' clearance on one side and 5 1/2' on the other. I also went 22' deep and put a wheelchair ramp (just in case,'cause you never know) at the man door.
Currently, there is no wall between the garage and the 30 x 30 workshop, which has it's own 10' door. I'm leaning toward an accordion style partition.
I'm already old and need all the space I can get, since I can't get younger.
I hate squeezing out the Vette. I want to step out with the door fully open like a boss.
Squeezing? This again? If you open the door 2', you have a 1.5' gap to stroll out of like a boss or the king of Albania for that matter. Are you more than 1.5' thick? That's really thick and I have a tough time believing that you are an also an sit in a Corvette,
I'm figuring 2' gap at door end but maybe 1.5' at where you stand up closer to the door fulcrum.
You can always get Lambo doors and we can redo that wonderful thread.

I'm not sure your opinion of strolling out is near the same as mine.
I just set up a box 24" from the door and then attempted to get in and out. While I could manage, it wasn't easy, and I'm a 5'8" 175# fairly flexible guy. The door is full opened at 40", so when my mirror clears the garage door opening (and I drive in straight), I'll have 42" clearance to the wall. My Silverado and the wife's Caddy have nearly identical door openings. The old house with 3 car garage and me on the single car left side only had 16" of clearance, so I had to angle hard right just to get out of the car. The problem is that builders don't build wide enough garages. Not only did I specify an 18' wide door on the new house, I also got an 8' high one to accommodate a possible van or tall SUV.

That's 2' at the widest point ... minus the thickness of the door ... goes to zero at the hinge. There's very little space to get out. And it's even worse if you have something in your hands, like a cup of coffee. Or a pizza. You gotta be somewhat of an acrobat.

2ft gap is fine and i'll have to side step out. With the door fully open I can walk out so to speak. Maybe a sliding door mod
