Had it for about 2 months and it was shifting hard from 1-2. So I decided since neither of the differential fluid and the tranny fluid had ever been changed that I was going to do it.
Jacked it up. Drained the fluid. Dropped the pan. Replaced the filter and the gasket. Re installed the pan. Pumped about 3 quarts into it( it's all it would take). Started the car, let it get to operating temperature. No fluid was coming out. So I added more until it started to trickle out. Reinstalled the drain plug.
Took the car out for a spin.
I have all gears. But little to know power from 1-2 gear. Takes about 2k RPMs for it to feel that it has any power. Even if I floor it.
About 10 min into the test drive the check engine light came on. Steady. So I took it by autozone and they ran the code of "p0976 2-3 shift solenoid (ss) control circuit low voltage tcm"
So my questions are....
Should I just replace the solenoid? Did I do something wrong? HELP PLEASE!
I never had the pan off of the trans in an auto vette; but is there any chance you could have pulled or pinched a wire when you performed the service?
Yeah I guess there's always that chance. But I was pretty careful. It's an A4 model so that pan is different than those of the newer years. Meaning it doesn't have like a recessed pan. It's more of a flat square pan. But all in all it was a pretty smooth process. I'm just curious if the new fluid after 11 yrs and 60k miles caused that solenoid to seize or something. Not allowing the right amount of fluid pressure.
sorry about your problem. this is why i'm on the fence about doing anything to my 05 with 55,000 on it. most so if it ain't broke leave it alone. others have serviced it without any problems. i just don't know.
HELP.....
Not sure if this is an answer but there is a Helms manual for every C6. I would think the trans is in it and might indicate where the solenoid is located. I also think when you start working on 8, 9, 10 or more year old cars that may, or may not have had any work done on some major components, you'd better be ready for anything to happen. Including a working part not working after supposedly making things better with new fluid, filters, gaskets, etc.
As to leaving something alone because it's not broken, that works for some people. But it really is a roll of the dice which can result in good or bad things happening.
hey im having some issues with my 2005 c6 automatic, it drives in the 1,2, an 3 on the gear shift but in drive the car acts as if it’s in neutral. However once I have the car up to 40-45 mph it will shift into 4th and over drive no problem but once I slow back down or stop it drops back into what seems to be neutral (unless I shift back down) I was told that because it seems like all of my gear are “there” that it must be a computer or electrical issue and was told to check the solenoids. Does any of this ring a bell to you? And I see you’re in Vegas I just moved out here could you recommend any corvette specialists? Thanks
