THIS MIGHT BE A SHOT IN THE DARK...Lift it up safely, use jack supports, get a coat hanger and try to snake it in and pull it out!?

Take a pictures while doing it. We like pictures!

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Mine was so jammed between the spring and the oil pan no air, no tornado no coat hanger could dislodge it. After lifting it ( than it moves even to a worst area) tried to pull it out with pliers, breaker bar, large screw driver and hammer, took me 45 minutes to get it out pushing and pulling. You guys have no idea!

Lift the car on drivers side at jacking puck position. Place a hydraulic or scissor jack on leaf spring near the A-arm. Raising the spring from this position will release tension but not sure it will help your situation.

How about a strong stream of water from one of those brass adjustable hose ends?

Was the car fully on the ground when it drop? If so then compressing the suspension isn't going to help any more so the easiest and fastest way would be to break the motor mount nuts loose and jack the engine up slightly.

If the car was in the air with the suspension hanging just put some jack stand under the a arms or put it on ramps too compress the suspension and that spring will relax and give you your tool back.

Ok, finally got it out. I tugged and pulled on that socket for hours trying everything to get it out, it was really jammed in there. But I got an idea, I used a thick rope and struck over the spring. Then pulled on both ends and wiggled it out.
Whew, I'm tired.
Hope that never happens again.
Cheers to me, had a few beers to celebrate.

Well, if ever you deserved a few brews, this would be it! The rope technique is brilliant!

Now, you don't have to lose sleep over what it may or may not do.

Get one of those telescoping magnets from Sears or Home Depot. I've used them several times to get screws/nuts that have slipped in to a dark hole.
