HID low beams
Just curious if anyone's tried these, they are pricy, but wondering how good they are

Pricey?
No ****. $200 more than a pair of 'standard' Phillips D1S HID's.
I checked XenonDepot (an excellent source for lighting, by the way) for a comparison of specs and prices between a Phillips Xenon Standard D1S and the Ultinon.
Both have the same- Rated Lifetime: 2500-3000 hours (35w)
Brightness in Lumens (lu) is:
3000lu for the cheaper lamp with a 5000K color temp. 2850lu with the 6000K lamp.
2900lu for the Ultinon 6000K lamp.
Not sure what to make of this. Phillips is an excellent company so maybe they have improved the igniter in the base (the square metal box) or made some other change/upgrade.
