I'm confused...if they say no charge why would you not pick it up? Do the headlights still stay on?
I am in california. The reason i havent picked up car is because i dropped it off for a recall, after recall was done, they want me to take a car home that everytime i park the car i have to disconnect the battery to turn off the headlights.

Did they give you a list of what all they checked? This seems like such a simple thing to track down, or should be anyway. There have been cases of the turn signal/light control lever failing and causing problems with high beams coming on with the turn signal. If it isn't the recall wiring they did and it's not the sensor on the dash the thing I'd check is that lever. I would pick it up if I were you. Why leave it there and let who knows what else happen to it. Pick it up and either take it to another dealer or a trusted mechanic. Do some experimenting at home first like covering the light sensor on the dash or shining a bright light into it. After all that I would still have to believe it's something they did while performing the recall work. Good Luck.
Looks like i am going to end up picking it up, gm told me the dealership refuses to work on it due to it being heavily modified (cam only car). They are independently owned and gm cant force dealer to fix what they messed up!
Another sad case of dealer incompetence.
Nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.
I sincerely hope for the best possible outcome for you.
Reason number 67 why I don't take my 'vette to a dealer unless it's absolutely necessary!
For me, this low beam, "fix", is far from necessary.
Please provide a credible link that says this issue is a "federally mandated recall."
I have never heard this before. 2005, through 2007 Corvettes were issued a recall, that must comply with federal laws, but the recall, to the best of my knowledge was not "federally mandated."
I've attached a copy of the actual GM recall...
If you are mechanically incline, you could follow the procedure that is attached here from post #20 and see if they did the recall correctly.
It is well defined and would be easy to check the wiring.

Another sad story of having work done at incompetent dealerships. When I originally got the low beam recall notice, I went to a local dealer & asked them to order the parts kit for me (just a couple of wires). When the parts came in, they refused to hand over to me claiming the work had to be done at the dealership. That was more than a year & a half ago & about once a month I get a call from them asking me to schedule an appointment to do the work.....NOT! As others have noted....if it ain't broke....don't fix it. If & when I do have a problem, I'll figure out the repair for myself.

Sorry to hear of your problems with the recall. If you either troubleshoot the car yourself or take it to a competent independent shop you should be able to get the lights working correctly again. Then just write off the grief and expense as a lesson in life. I declined to do the C6 headlight recall and also with my wife's car which has a pending recall. If the car works I'm thoroughly convinced you are better off taking your chances because it will be in worse shape after they get done with it. I have worked at two dealerships over the years in service and sales and could tell you stories that would make you sick. The manufacturers want all service work to go through the dealerships but where it seems to backfire on them is that the private shops often do a better job.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act may be applicable to your situation. This act gives the consumer considerable protection. Look it up on the internet as it is easy to read. Good luck.
Take it to another dealership and see if they can fix the mess.
That's just asking for more trouble. If you can't diagnose the problem yourself, check with a local Vette club for a referral to a good independent Vette mechanic.
Are the GM Customer Service reps still on this forum? Seems like this is one that they should hop right on. I'm not sure how effective they've ever been though.
I've not had the issue with the low beams going off once the engine bay heats up, so I know that the ground wire is not broken and losing connection once the ground wire expands with heat.
I will not get the recall done at GM. If I do lose my low beams, I will do the fix myself via a PDF that I saved from a few years ago.
Exactly Won't bring my beast into the dealer so they can screw things up and blame my mods for the problem that didn't exist before they got their hands on it. Period. Good luck OP!
