I keep getting that letter for my 08 but they say it is optional on 08 or newer. But they will do it for free. I will do it myself it mine fails. If not I will do nothing.
So last saturday i dropped it off at another dealership. Within about 30 minutes they told me that previous dealership did recall incorrectly. They ended cleaning up there mess and said yes the headlights will not turn off. They diagnosed and said bcm is bad. Gm rep told me they are not responsible for module going out. Dealership told me to take car back to previous dealer , because they caused the problem. Any suggestions???
Why did you take it to the second dealer knowing there was a problem with the work the first dealer did with the low beam recall. I think now the first dealer will blame you and the second dealer for the problems you're having now. Am I missing something ?
Gm rep insisted that i take too another dealer, was hoping second dealer would say not dealer fault. Fortunately 2nd dealer seems to be on my side. 2nd dealer has confirmed with gm rep that modifications i made could had in no way caused headlight issue. They also saying that 1st dealer should be held accountable for the mistake and mess they made of my car.

Need to get that in writing and sent over to GM. That way the first dealer can fix it! Idiots
Maybe get the second dealer to write a description on how the recall was performed improperly.
Hopefully they will actually take another dealer expertise more serious than telling the customer that the work was done properly and be done with you. All could of been fixed if they actually spent a little time and revisited the repair work, which sounds like they didn't do at all.
This was what I thought could be the only problem, but unfortunately you got the crappiest dealer to work on your car.
I would also get GM more involved into the matter, unless you finally get satisfaction after this fiasco.
My suggestion would be try to politely explain to the GM rep that the first dealer showed a lack of skill/ability/desire to do the job correctly the first time and you have zero confidence they will do a better job now. Ask if there is some way the second dealer can perform the work and charge back the first dealer.
Good luck.

The first dealer was actively screwing up his car. How many weeks is he expected to allow that to continue?
Troubleshooting the headlight circuit is not hard. If they are incapable of isolating where circuit 1970 is being pulled to ground, they have no business even attempting this simple recall, let alone attempting to fix their own mistake.
I'm a little skeptical that anything's actually wrong with the BCM, but regardless: Cultrag will sell you a new one for $277.52. You have to ask yourself, do you want your car fixed properly, or do you want justice? I would pay dealer #2 to fix it, and then attempt to get dealer #1 to pay the bill. Maybe they won't. But at least you'll have your car back.
