I assume most have read about the Z06 on the forums lead in page (home page) and it just amazes me the performance of this car. You can actually go buy a car with sub 11 second ability in stock form, incredible!!
Being as old as dirt I sure remember the 70's when the insurance companies put the kybosh on the horse power and wonder if that could be coming. I hope not but with the Z06, Hell Cat, and now the Shelby GT 350R flexing their muscle's I wonder??

While I am not old enough to remember the end of the original muscle car era, but it was not just the insurance companies that ended the hp wars, but also rising emissions standards coupled with fuel shortages and costs. After getting out of any high hp muscle car and into any newer car the advances in brake/tire/suspension technology is nothing short of amazing. The electronic "nannies" can save your butt from some pretty stipid decisions. There has to be a ceiling to everything, but I think speed will be the least of the mfr concerns when they decide enough is enough.

It will be the Goberment regulations that ends the hp we are now enjoying.

Gas mileage has also increased 100-200% over the years for similar cars. I remember when a Corvette was doing good to get 10 mph. Now it's over 30 in some cases (approaching that of a Honda Accord).
Its amazing for sure!
However, the price of these things is a bit staggering also...
How much is honestly enough?....I had my 2008 Corvette right at 700 HP ....realized quickly that no one really needs that much HP unless they are tracking it weekly.
The cost was minimal to get it to that point....
I can imagine dropping 70k -90k for a car like that and then asking myself 3 months after purchase....why did I do this?

Obviously, every time they release a new one, it has to be more powerful than the old one. I always wonder how far it will go down the road considering we don't get limited by the use of fossil fuels, emissions, etc. Its just hard to believe they can make it more awesome than it already is!!
Anyone notice those shifts, crisp eh, who says auto trans aren't for track use

Corvette C7 Z06 drag racing, yes, but the track guys have a lot of trouble on road courses, which is what that car was supposed to be really good at. Even GM recommends the M7, and it still overheats when the really good drivers get on it hard. It's hard to make supercharged cars perform like the earlier C6 Z06 on road courses, as GM is finding out with this C7.....
But it's still fairly new, once the get the kinks out, I'll seriously look at trading up for one.
The way it's going though, I had better keep my C6 for now
Wont it be great in about 6 to 8 years from now when these high-HP beasts are starting to find themselves in the hands of 16-year old high-school kids?

If you think about it The bad *** car to have when I was in high school was a 5.0 GT I mean you were a spoiled brat with a bad *** car if you had one.
That was 225HP.
The 2016 v6 Mustang is 300HP and most parents would think twice about buying that.

That 225 HP takes me back to my HS sophomore year, when a junior bought his new '56 Chevy dual quad 225 HP 4dr HT Belair for cash with the money he saved working summers on the farm. His younger brother (my age) paid taxes on nearly $6K during his senior year in 1959. Apparently farming paid well.
