Stock C7 Corvette/Stock Tires World Record!
Cars are getting astonishingly fast these days, and although we know the new Z06 is a rocket right out of the box, the wick just got turned up another fraction of a second. It might not sound like much, but it’s pretty astonishing to think that you can waltz right into a local Chevy dealer, pick yourself up a Z06, drive on down to the drag strip (after you’ve done a proper break in procedure), and immediately place yourself in the ten-second range. Or even set a world record.
As you can see in the video below, on a good day with a good driver, we now know that you can run a 10.41, thanks to Corvette Forum user wfarmer.z, who recently set a new stock/stock tire world record in a Z06 at Maryland international Raceway. You may recognize that he’s got a few other records as well, so perhaps this is a pastime of his. Either way, that kind of speed is beyond impressive. The Corvette in question is specifically equipped with the 8-speed auto, and that allowed it to set a trap speed of 134 mph and change.
Are we in a new era of horswepower and speed wars? I dare you to argue that we aren’t.
