Default C6 2005 automatic huge problems! Wont start!

Hi, Im going to try to explain this as good as possible but I made a video to that you can find below. (I'm Swedish living in the US)
Please help! I cant get the car to start anymore. I've had some problems similar to other not getting the gear down, I've been fine with that as it usually only took 1-3 tries and it would work.

This morning I felt something strange as I pulled down to get into "D". It was soft and dint go into the gear with a firm click. Also the car would start rolling even though I was on "N".
I pulled it to park but it still rolled from some reason as it was in "D". I turned off the car and thats when it all went to hell. I could not start the car anymore, it says: shift into park.
After "kicking" it to park it would not show the message but it would not start the car. It would reboot instead all over, blink like nothing happend. Everytime I tried to start the car.
I tried to get into "R" "N" and "D" and start it but nothing.

Reading as much as I could find on this I decided to cut the boot open for the shifter. I could not find much that looked odd to me but that is also why I made a video.
I checked all fuses, I took away the battery for over 2 hours to reboot the process the only 2 things I did hear is clicking from is:

1) The solinod
2) Somewhere in the glove box

Now I get tons of different messeges and I think the car is going crazy with error codes and dont know what is happening.
Anyone that can help me?

Sounds like you have a broken shifter/cable. Happened to mine a couple months back. There are some DIY threads on this on the forum, if you do a search, I'm sure you'll find them. If you're not a DIYer, you'll have to get it to a shop. Good luck.

the shifter cable has come detached or its broken. why did you cut the boot on your shifter? you can easily remove the console trim and remove the shifter. I have a spare 05 shifter if you need a replacement. the shifter is moving but the cable that the shifter is connected to is not.
check out this thread to see how to remove the console and shifter.

I found that the cable was broken.... thank god and F*CK at the same time.

1) what do you want for your shifter? (automatic right?) and is it working good?

2) is this the correct part for a new cable, part no: 15888331

Just fixed mine today. My shifter came apart where the shifter is connected to the linkage up front. You have to pull the center console out and then remove the shifter booth which has four 10 mm nuts holding it in place. I Bought a linkage repair kit from Advance Auto parts store. I first bought Dorman Kit #14041 but I couldn’t get any of the little connector to fit into the linkage. I had to go back and bought Dorman kit 14055 which came with two plastic connector. I was able to use the smallest connector in the kit. It was clear in color where the other one in kit 14055 was white in color. I also added two zip ties for insurance. It was a pain in the butt working in a tight space but I had little confidence in that clip holding forever. Have patience.
