great thread with alot of good post's!! 
A lot of opinions for sure,,,, the vararam is a good choice and I like the ss one as well. they all seem to claim the 30-40 HP gains with nothing more then the units themselves but I never believed that really? but that's just an opinion so take it for that.
BUT getting cold air is important, actually not really cold just ambient temp air. The "RAM AIR" effect is very beneficial as well. but you don't get that till your moving along pretty good. I did the vararam on mine and whoever posted the better cutout pics was a genius, I just wish I would of seen that when I did mine, lol. From looking at a few products any of them that you get the air above the radiator air great for both ram air and cold air. I would think they all perform pretty darn similar.
Bummer side note: I have a C7 now and there really isn't a product I have seen that gets you ram air effect or cold air,,,,, the C7 air filter goes into the right fender so we don't get what the C6 got, bummer.
