8 responses, 4 stated donations in 47 days. That says something.
I understand your disappointment, Vette_DD. I think this is a case of us needing to raise others awareness. Someone said something about pictures. We need a really good idea.
It feels good to be able to help a person in need realize a dream.

I thought about it for a moment. My father had ALS and it was a painful thing to watch as his ability to get around slowly left his body. Then his ability to speak reduced to a nod of the head and a few breaths from a CPAP machine before the next few words at a time. All while being fed through a hose directly into his stomach because he couldn't swallow his food.
Perhaps if this family had posted that the car would be sold and the money donated to the ALS Association after his passing that would make me feel better about donating/contributing.
A better idea might be a local giving him a ride in one. He knows he is not going to be able to enjoy ownership and his current physical ability may not allow him to be able to drive it anyway.

Are there any forum members in the Toronto area?
Thank you for your brief but heartfelt words of your father.
I suppose i took for granted everyone would read the links in my first post..
The first being the gofundme page which contains the familys story and contains that very idea that eventually all donated funds toward this effort will go directly to the ALS foundation. Car or no car.
The second being the article that i originally encountered where Ron Fellows gave Scott some exhilarating laps in a C7 around his home track CTMP (formerly known as Mosport) in December
so your great ideas are already in motion but please dont hesitate to bring more

I read the article again and saw the part where they would sell the car and donate to the ALS Association.
The website is having issues and the family needs to log in to correct the error or question the gofundme people are having.
When it comes back up I'll donate a little above average.
It's not about whether this gentleman should get his dream like just about everyone else... it seems to me (IMHO) that this is more about a young man trying to do something significant for his father... and how the heck is THAT a bad thing?
As soon as their account is back up... I'm making a donation. Time for a little reality check... either we're a true community or we're just a bunch of hardworking stiffs who got lucky enough to live the dream...
Donations can fail for a few reasons including Internet browser issues, typos in card information, or insufficient funds. Another thing that can help donors is knowing to use the name on their card to donate - they can then have us help them change it to a nickname or name of an organization after the funds go through.
Donors can reach us for help using the Help button at the top of the campaign. We are always here to help them make successful donations.
I got farther this time than the last. Last time, right after clicking on donate the message came up to ask the organizer to log in. This time it came up after completing the name and zip code information.
So it is down until the organizer logs in. Things might have taken a turn for the worse and the family has not taken the time to log in.
Post here if you are able to log in and make a donation as of 2/24/16 3:00 pm Pacific time.

received note from Marshal and his Mom and Dad saying thank you for informing him on the account status which he now has in order
We lost my mother in law to ALS, it is a HORRIBLE way to die. Anna was an angel to me always and I had to make some pretty tough decisions in the end, but she didnt go out in pain. I'll definitely donate what I can.
I understand the "feel good" part of this thread. However, I find it to be something which I cannot/will not be a part. Gofundme, crowdfunding, whatever they are, just hit me wrong.
Had this family contacted a local Corvette Club they could have arranged a club drive to this person's house, a ride, a meal, and probably a donation. I'd participate, as I have before, and help pass the hat.
Sorry.
Per my post above Ruxvette's, I agree with him. I'll add that this did not come close to passing my sniff test.
Among other inconsistencies, I doubt Canadian garbage men work 6 or 7 days a week.
If you read the articles, Ron Fellows started this movement. Do you think an international, professional race car driver with strong ties to General Motors is fronting a scam?...better have your sniffer checked.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
