C6 Exhaust -Best Option for Quiet Rides
I bought a 2009 a month ago and it's a bit louder at highway speeds than my C5. I don't mind a little noise, but the drone on the exhaust makes it hard to have a conversation in the car. The previous owner swapped out the exhaust with some MagnaFlow equipment.
I'd like to get it back to something more stock and thought you guys are the best place to get opinions on the best systems. Brand Names, Part Numbers, personal preferences, I'll take all of it from you, the experts.
Thanks!

No drone, and quiet except when you go WOT. It will likely be your cheapest option, and lot's to be found on FS section or at corvette recylers.

Or...........Corsa Sports.
Not too loud but they sound much better than stock.
And no drone whatsoever.
It usually all comes down to cost for someone making this change.
Good advice above and you can probably sell the MagnaFlows' to re-coop some of the cost.

Exhaust tone is a personal preference, here is what I have tried and I hate drone.
1. My original NPP was just too quite with the flaps closed, when open sounded ok. But open all the time there is a little drone but not the best tone.
2. Bi-mode modded 3" factory mufflers, sounded similar to NPP.
3. B&B bullets 3" version, sounded amazing, the drone was so bad I removed them right away.
4. GHL street series, also sounded good, drone RPM range was worse than the bullets.
5. Borla ATAK, this is the hands down best sounding exhaust. Plenty of sound with maybe a tiny hint of drone to some. Much better sounding than the NPP and you can have a conversation with someone, if that is your thing. The s-type II is a little milder but probably the choice for most, no drone.
6. Corsa extreme, these are very quite under 3K. Almost like having NPP without the heavy dual mode mufflers. Still a better sound than NPP but not as deep as the new Borla systems.
I just purchased another Borla ATAK, they just sound amazing.
This is with factory manifolds, adding headers will increase sound level quite a bit which can add drone to certain systems.
I would highly recommend going to a corvette get together to listen to some systems first hand.
Good luck,
DJ

Quiet would be stock, non nnp.
Corsa claims no drone which is what your present system is doing, droning.
I am happy with the Corsa Sports.
Best is to try and visit a corvette club gathering and experience the difference in person.
Very subjective topic.

Been there-Done that! my lovely wife requires a quiet ride due to an ear condition. (Tinnitus) I like a quiet ride also. We bought a 2007 convert with 5000 miles on it and a loud aftermarket muffler set. There are slightly used stock mufflers all over the place for sale. I think I paid $50 for a very low mileage set and $100 to get them installed. I sold the loud system quickly for more money than the quiet stuff costs. At the fall Effingham show, stock sets used to be all over the place for free due to the number of folks changing out their systems. Go stock if you want quiet and low cost.

bbobb401, where are you located? I have a stock cat back from my '07 in my garage. If you are close enough ( I'm in Austin (Just north) Tx) you can have 'em. I really don't want to ship as that would require packing, etc.. that I really don't have time or ability to do properly.
so if you are close enough, I'm sure we can figure something out.
Although, I'm not sure they will fit? as I think in '08 something changed and the cat backs are different? Someone else will know for sure, though.

Get accurate information on what years will fit. Make sure your car was left "stock" back to the mufflers and over axle pipes. You want all the correct stuff when you get ready to do this job. If any modifications were made in front of the axle over pipes, stock units may not fit. As you probably know, the muffler includes the tips in the back and the pipes that go over the axles in the front. It is all one piece. Post "wanted" when you are sure what you need. These should be all over the place and nobody wants them because those of us who want quiet are in the minority. Try to get low mileage stuff. Don't even price new GM. You may keel right over! Last time I looked it was something like $900 per side. I do some of my own work but I had a local shop do the muffler switch because I didn't have a good way to lift the car that high. As mentioned, he charged $100 and I tipped $20 because he was super careful with everything he did. If you really want best quiet, don't get talked into aftermarket stuff by anybody. I'm in a chainsaw forum and some of those guys would put a small block Chevy on a chainsaw. To each his own but I just want to cut a little firewood and I want a quiet car.

I personally recommend the B&B Fusion. Deeper sound than NPP with all the benefits (can go quiet and loud).
Here's my car on various setups.
This is NPP with LT Headers. Valves opened...
This is B&B Fusion starting quiet and then switching to loud
This is B&B Quiet mode at full throttle

IMHO, NOTHING beats the Corsa Sport Exhaust system - particularly when configured with their optional X-Pipe !!
This is the system I own -and- I would recommend it to anyone who's not looking for a loud, obnoxious exhaust tone, as well as anyone who refuses to tolerate any drone whatsoever !!

Does anyone with aftermarket exhaust have more than 150K miles?
I would like to see opinions from someone who regularly sits in the car for more than 400 mile days.
