was on a "road trip" back to the midwest last year for my 50th HS reunion. pulled into a gas station in Kansas, went inside to pay for the gas. when I got back to the car, there was a little boy, probably about 8-10 y/o. He looked at me and said, "that sure is a beautiful car, sir". I'll never forget it.

You passed on the Corvette tradition w/o even trying (too much). Years from now that kid, when sitting in his first Vette, will be saying...
I am always amazed by the attention and compliments it gets.
People don't believe me from their expressions that this is the best car I have ever driven and the most fuel efficient car I have at 30 MPG on the road.
I remember as a teen a neighbor bought a 1965 red vert. Never got to get a ride, but spent a lot of time looking at it. This has never changed with the corvette, and I hope it doesn't. It's an amazing car.
Puts a smile on my face every time I get in it.
I have lots of funny stories as people never think that it is my car and they start discussing it with other people in front of me as they don't have a clue that I am the driver...once I was in line at the bank and some dude comes from outside and starts showing a picture on his phone to the guy in front of me and starts saying "hey look at this nice red Corvette outside etc. etc."
Get comments all the time; the most recent was just the other day on our way down to Laughlin. We stopped to grab a couple of waters on the way, there was a young couple walking out of the shop right behind us & as it turned out they were parked right next us. As we walked up to the car, I notice them both looking at the car and the young man asked me if was mine. I said yes and he said; man, that's simply awesome, what year is it? I told him and then he it looks new, how many miles? I told him over 90K. He smiled, said wow and that he hopes to own something that awesome some day.
Right after I got the car last year a bunch of local kids (figure like 10-12 y/o) were hanging around up the road. They stopped me just to take pictures with the car lol
My wife and I were having dinner at a local restaurant when a young man in his 20's that works there comes up to us and says man that is the coolest car he had ever seen. I was like how did you know it was ours? He had asked everyone else in the restaurant before he found us. I told him it was for sale and he told me he could never afford something like that. We encouraged him that he could do anything he put his mind to and to never say that.
We get wave's, thumbs up, and comments all the time.
I had a mother and son come up to the car one night at a cruise in. The kid was around 16 and he told me he was a Mustang guy. Loved Mustangs. Had posters in his room, etc. So he checked out the car and I let him sit in the drivers seat, then I took him for a ride. When we got back he hopped out and told his mom that Mustangs don't even compare to a Corvette. No more Stangs for him! lol

....I do somewhat the same thing when young folks compliment the GS....I tell them that if they work hard in school and get a good job someday they also can have a car like this.......you know gotta give them some hope.....because that is what I did......
Reading all you answers I remembered a couple of additional incidents with this Corvette and it's predecessor. The day I bought this one I ran over to the local market and, again, it was parked by itself near the entrance. A lady in a mini van pulled into the parking spaces a few cars down and her son, who I would guess at 9-10 years old, bailed out of the van and, when he cleared the back of her vehicle, got this awed look on his face and just started walking toward my Vette.
My '69 BB used to get lots of attention from the Corvette crowd at shows, but I most remember being out driving it and stopping at a crosswalk for a couple of Jr. High School age boys. They both stopped in front of my Corvette and began asking questions about the year, etc. This was on a 4 lane boulevard and, eventually, people stopped behind me honked to move them along. I grinned for most of the following afternoon.
