For less than $1K you can buy a modern stereo for Double D Mods here on the forum and get all modern amenities including: better sound quality, Android Auto, use maps from your phone, access to any music for free, voice recognition that actually works, BT, Pandora, back up camera, etc...
Yes, individuals have installed rear view cameras. Some have hooked cameras into a separate/dedicated monitor mounted on the dash or center console. Other's, like myself, have aftermarket stereo/NAV units that are 'camera ready'. If you do a search, you can find several threads on the forum on how install them; that's what I did before jumping in and doing mine.
It was possible by adding a Lockpick 360 adapter to the OEM to allow a video feed, but it did not always work well, so they are hard to find.
There is a company (forum vendor) (Navtool) that does have the ability to add a video feed to the OEM Nav. It's around $400.00
I went another route and added a monitor inside the driver sunvisor where the vanity mirror used to be. It's stealth, can't be seen, and easy to access when the camera view is needed.
I use my monitor for a front facing camera for parking. The camera is mounted on top of the center air dam, just below the radiator.
