If anyone has a "Victory Red" Vette and has installed those popular after market red caliper covers, How close was the red to the Victory red ?
I'm thinking about getting the "painted to match" covers but the price has me wondering if the stock red would be close enough.
A bigger concern should be how those covers mount and will they stay on driving down the road hitting potholes. I had a set on a car not a vette, and thats exactly what happened.
I wouldn't touch the factory fronts. Their nice, but they dropped the ball on the ugly rears.
I wish some one would come up with covers just for the rears, that would in some way, match the factory fronts.

I have them on for over a year ( because I am to lazy to paint the calipers ) and had no problems . the clips are well engineered, easy to install and as long as you don't over tighten the nut you will be fine
...I bought some red ones for my GS and after getting them here sent them back....did not like the look......and I thought they will trap the heat.......I will get my calipers powder coated someday.......

Well as long as they are made to stay on and last, your grown and its your car. I wouldn't worry about what anyone else think.
Just paint your calipers. Easy to do and looks much better.
Do you know of any instructions or discussions on how to paint them ?
I imagine immaculate cleaning would be necessary
Wondering if people have used primer first ?
Spray or brush ?
Thanks

Search the forum, there have been several threads by those who have done it. The main points seem to be
Get ALL the dirt/grease/dust off the calipers
Use a high temp paint designed for calipers
Easier to do off the car, but it can be done on
To me, the covers really cheapen the looks of the car, especially with the factory wheels.

I used spray paint. Clean with brake e cleaner. Mask using tin foil (minimal tape required and when you crumple it around suspension parts it stays put) . Use tape for the detailed masking. Spray with high heat primer. Spray with your color of choice. Use a razor blade to scrap off the paint on the Corvette lettering. Spray with high heat clear coat.
You can find a detailed how to if you search bagman corvette.

I've got a set on my Victory Red coupe and they are virtually the same shade of red as the car. You wouldn't want to waste money on the painted to match product because it is the same color as the stock red ones. BTW, ignore all the hater comments about the covers leaving the car at high speed or trapping heat. If installed properly they're totally safe. I think the front ones are a little big visually, but I've had em on my Vette for about 8 mos. with no problems.
