Just changing the HU with the proper interface to keep the Bose will sound much better with all the sound equalization that comes with the Kenwood. I have a Kenwood with a JL sub, and still run the Bose speakers but tune the bass out of them. It sounds really great, however upgraded speakers are huge improvement as well.

Changed out to a Kenwood but kept the Bose speakers and, by adjusting the equalization, it sounds better & good enough for my 'cruising listening' needs
