Hello Members, I went on a road trip to Tarpon Springs, FL and drove my 2007 C6. I parked my car and stayed there the whole day being a typical tourist. At the end of the day when I went back to my car I saw that someone scratched the driver's rear view mirror big time. Some of it are light scratches and others are pretty deep gash> Is there any way that can be filled and buffed out without going to a bodyshop ?
I had just picked it up on Sept 2nd. On Sept 7th some douche scratched my car while I have having dinner in a restaurant. I feel your pain. A good shop should have that cleaned up quickly.

Oh my !!! Your scratch seems that someone did it on purpose!!! That's totally unsay !!
A good shop should be able to clean up and blend the paint on the mirror. After mine was repaired, I can't tell where it is anymore on the back and they did NOT have to paint/blend all the panels on the car. Any shop saying they'd have to redo door and blend the front quarter panel is looking to make extra $$$.
The scratch was done by some mental case of which the restaurant it was parked in front of called police.

If you don't mine me asking, I'm curious to know how much the repair cost?
This is why I like to park my car in a spot where I can sit inside and keep an eye on it.
Even then........... I was at a car show a few years ago and watched one lady come down between the cars with a friggin' baby stroller and put a light scratch on the side of my back bumper after she tried to maneuver it down over the curb. That was about an hour after another idiot brained woman started walking between the cars and when someone behind her hollered at her, she spun around to answer them and smacked the side of my car with this big huge leather purse.
Then I was at another car show- I went to use the rest room and when I got back, one of my buddies said, "Someone just fell on your car!!"
Of course my answer was, "Yeah, right." But then he said,
"I'm not kidding!! Some guy tripped on the curb and fell on the hood of your car!!" And when I looked, there they were- two big greasy hand prints across the hood of my car. Luckily, no damage was done other than the sweat from his hands and arms.
Now, I drive my 78 everywhere, which needs a paint job and has a few rough spots here and there. Everyone always asks, "Where's your good car?"
I get the feeling that they are mad because I don't want my 05 all torn up from clowns who can't keep away from someone else's car. Oh well!!

It is a shame that you have a nice car and would like to drive it around and you can't because people don't have the consideration nor respect to mind their business and keep away from a nice vehicle.
Hopefully I will find a good body shop that would do my Vette right
I was able to get it repaired for $300. My highest quote was 2k and lowest was $80. The $80 one was, we use "touch up paints" and polishing to get it to where if staring at it from 10 ft it's invisible, but at <5ft may notice something off. 2k wanted to do the generic we will repaint ALL the panels near by to blend the whole thing in.
The $300 repair sanded it down to primer then filled in and repainted using color matched paint. The result is you can't see it even if within 10 in.
Thanks for the figures. It gives me an idea and a ballpark figure.
I was highly recommended to go to this particular body shop but they are closed on the weekend. So I guess I will be there Monday right after work
Remove the mirror yourself, it's easy, and just bring that to a body shop. Have them paint just the bucket, and not the base. It will turn out fine, save some cash, and help prevent any other mishaps.
That is an idea. I wonder what does it entail to remove the mirror from the base ? But that would be a great idea because that way I can still have the car with me

Thanks for the info. Sounds like they did a good job. Kind of surprised someone would quote 2k for that scratch. Maybe if they were doing the entire car.
Attached fixed picture. It's still in storage, maybe in another 2 weeks I'll pull the covers off. Need to renew the tags on it still so I've been lazy about it.
The 2k price quote was at a repair shop located in a dealership. I kinda laughed when he indicated the bumper, and quarter panels all have to be blended in and since the bumper is being redone, then the logo on the back replaced.... it just piled on up from there.
