I have an 08 with original tires. Plan on new tires in the spring. Would it be beneficial to replace the TPMS for all 4 at this time?
I wouldn't, especially if you don't have many miles on the original sensors. I have a a set of '06 and a set of '07 wheels and all the sensors are fine.
After reading this post, bought 4 OEM sensors for $119.00 total. Installed for $10.00 per wheel. Had some trouble programming due to shop not being able to get the car into "learn mode" BIG thanks to BEZ06 for his quick (and perfectly thorough) PM explaining the procedure. Went to same shop the next day, put the car into learn mode myself, and had them programmed in 5 minutes. Paid less than GM wanted for 1 sensor and got 4. If all my Corvette projects/repairs go this well I'll be happy.... yeah, not really expecting that.

No one here knows more about the TPMS system than Bob, BEZ06, and no one has contributed more to our forum understanding of the system. Every car maker has a different way to get the car into the learn mode, so it is somewhat understandable that a tire place would not know how to do it on a less common car like a Vette. We should be glad that GM allows us to even put the car into this learn mode...I have a friend with a Subaru and she has to go to the dealership to have sensors learned...there is no way for the owner to do it, even with a TPMS tool. What a pain if you have snow tires that go on and off the car every year.
