I'm new to the C6 (2007). I had a 95 LT1 engine and replaced the thermostat with a 160 dg hypertech stat and the car ran cooler. I also had a Dewitt's rad. Living in Florida the a/c is always on so I didn't have to reprogram the fans. I was thinking of doing the same thing to my 07. Has anyone used a 160 dg stat and noticed an improvement? I know the highway temps should run the same temps as the stock stat. Local driving may run cooler. I am not familiar with this car as I have it less than a week. The big question is to leave the stock stat or not. No emissions testing in Florida.
Another quick question. I was looking at the radiator. To me it looks like I have to remove the condenser to remove the radiator in these cars, is that true?
Thank you
I did the same as I also live in Florida and the oil and coolant are cooler most of the time. On the highway the coolant is about 180 and oil 223. Stock it was 195 and 230.

Thank you. I noticed you have a later model car, do we have the same engine ? 2007. Did you use a hypertech thermostat?
These cars are designed to run a certain way.Putting in a 160 stat and doing nothing else is a waste of time. Also,it may cause sludge at some point. Granted,I live in NY and it gets cold here which may have a different effect but I would not use one.I've had them in the past, btw, but only with other mods like headers and a tune.

The engines are basically the same The LS3 has a bigger bore and different heads. The thermostat is different. The LS2 that you have has a slightly smaller diameter. I have a SLP 160. This forum is full of opinionated people who like to argue so don't let them get you down.
Plus we are "ALL SMARTER" than the engineers aren't we
Absolutely! They don't know squat! They're too stupid to balance all the various parts with each other, compromising between cost, performance, and reliability.
