I have a 2008 convertible with a manual top and I went to a car show last saturday and the weather was great . at 2:00, when the show was over, it started to pour. like everyone else , we all ran to our cars to close them up and leave. I put the top up and close the hood and windows up. well just a little way on the highway my top went flying back because I didn't latch it.I stopped, put the windows down to get the top seated, but the force of the wind pushed the top back so far that it would not seat in the top windshield frame without a lot of force. The bottom of the top mechanism chipped the fiberglass boot. Now when I put the top down, it's very hard to close the top cover. Am I the only one thats had this problem. Can this be fixed? thanks
Yup, I think you are the only one......at least I don't recall any similar posts......but I could be senile too.
Quite a few coupe owners have reported failing to latch their removable tops and subsequently joined the flying roof club, but I just don't recall any convertible owners not latching the top. Sorry.

I have a 2005 vert top has blown open latch came undone at least 5x luckily below 50kmh also waterfall has had to be adjusted 3x wouldn't lock down
I have a 2005 and this happened to me once but just out of the drive at about 10mph so no big deal. I was really surprised at the force it opened with I can not imagine it doing that at speed. My guess is something it bent to state the obvious but if everything still works all be it not properly I would think it can be straightened or realigned easily. I would be very curious to know the out come, please keep us posted and as always picks would be helpful.

LOLOL, yeah man, I've seen a fair number of posts about that unenviable coupe club. Thankfully I haven't 'joined' yet, but at least my car came with two tops!!!!!!

A tech at a local Chevy dealership told me this happened a lot with Hertz rental cars. He was the guy who repaired them. It can be repaired. You aren't the first.
You might want to consult with a trim shop that specializes in convertibles. The estimate should be free.
I had posted a little while ago about me not latching my manual convertible top on my 2008 and drove away, which in turn, flipped opened and bent the 2 vertical top rods. They are right and left rods that are next to the fiberglass top cover, which also got damaged. My question is, has anyone taken a manual top apart far enough to replace these rods? Thanks
