Signal amplifier and they can start the car and drive it away. Even if the key is in the house. Mine was broken in this way.
I made a Faraday Cage that blocks the boosting. An Altoids container with an interior box with many sheets of aluminum. Mine works perfect. My GS is visible and accessible where I work. They have Signal amplified C6s down here in South Florida. Plus I have LoJack.

I had never heard of a signal amplifier. (This is why I keep reading here, I learn lots!).
An article I found online in the NYTimes said that a freezer also works as a Faraday cage. Will the cold hurt the FOB I don't use often? I don't have an empty Altoids tin handy.
As a comic aside ... last weekend, I checked a few things on my beater backup car. It rained today, so I chose to drive it. I went out, and while the alarm was set, the driver door was slightly ajar (I keep the car covered). Alzheimer's, here I come! At least I didn't leave the keys in it.
FYI, Amazon lists something called a Fob Guard. I'm sure there are others out there in the marketplace.

I bought one on Amazon and it worked 25% of the time. That's why I made my own.

One site I found suggested a metal cocktail shaker. I have something similar; I placed my cell phone inside and called it as a test, and it didn't ring and didn't register a missed call. Does that mean it's effective? I hope so.
I also hope I remember where the keys are in the morning when it's time to go to work.
A related question ... a few months ago, I was asleep when I heard my garage door open. It was so weird! Was it rats, or something more sinister? It hasn't happened since.

Wow, that's pretty paranoid. Im still waiting for someone to come up with a credible link that this is likely on the type of fobs that our Corvettes use.
My 64 was stolen. It was my first car and I had it from high school through college. It was seven years old when I bought it. It had been ridden hard and put up wet when I bought it but I was seventeen and thankful to have my dream car. Over the next five years I did quite a bit to it and in fact spent all day working on it the night it was stolen. It was never found. I was heart broken.

Don't hold your breath, you'll be waiting a long time.

Maybe it's paranoid, but it only takes a few seconds to put my keys in the cocktail shaker. I read a few articles today from various sources; seems to be a problem in larger cities like San Francisco. All of the persons interviewed said they now keep their keys in the freezer; I'd rather be ahead of game and do it before I'm a victim.
Also, there are two different ways they can steal your codes. Since I don't use the "unlock" button, I'm safe from that one.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go make myself a summer hat while I have the tinfoil out.

Good to see some humor on here.
Make sure you make a large brim, I hear this summer is going to be a scorcher. Global warming or climate change, or dimming from contrails. Not sure which.
