Well I'm glad I didn't take the Vette to lunch today (it's still hibernating).
I wish *I* didn't go to lunch today.
I'm coming home around 1:00 in my 2017 pickup, with 6300 miles on it, and about a mile from home a deer jumps right out in front of me. I didn't get hurt at all, but her life ended very quickly.
Oh well.
The adjuster called me this morning. The original estimate was for $9,300 and pending, but it's up to $11,400 now that it's apart.
It's at my buddy's shop so I went over today to look at it. FWIW, I have Traveler's insurance and my buddy said the adjuster was absolutely great, no problems at all. He's thrown some (Allstate) out of his shop.
And my local independent agent is also great; everyone in this whole mess has been wonderful to deal with.
While I have been waiting for the snow and rain to stop, I decided to fix my coolant leaks. My 2009 vert, with 32K miles, was dripping from the radiator petcock and I discovered that the hole was warped and not fixable and the tank seal was leaking. I ordered a DeWitts radiator. The heater hose tee was leaking and the rest of my hoses were showing signs of age. I had replaced the small return hose and tee with clamps last summer not using oem. I ordered a HPS silicone hose set. The HPS hoses have the tees molded in and are high temp and pressure rated. This eliminated the two tees and clamps.

In the past, I had installed a DeWitts radiator in my C5 and was very pleased with those results.
This install was straight forward and again I am very pleased with these results. DeWitts makes great radiators with no modifications.

Back by the license plate has never worked since I bought my C6 last June, so today I removed it and disassembled and cleaned it out. Now it works properly! Decided to go for a drive but when I pressed the start button, the dash only registered 11.6 volts! This after taking it out yesterday with readings of 14+ volts (and living on a better tender). These cars tend to keep you humble.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to take it out on the road yet this season because we keep getting snow. At idle it is running around 203-206 degrees F. It took it awhile to burp. I put a 50/50 mix of coolant in as recommended. The DeWitts adds a gallon of additional coolant capacity and double rows. My past experience is that it won't run as hot and will cool down considerably quicker when you start moving. I am guessing it will run down the highway at about 194 degrees F with the stock thermostat. Now I won't have to worry about the oem radiator crapping out or issues with the hoses. Granted my vehicle is 9 years old with 32K miles on it now but you would think the oem radiator and hoses would last longer.

Same here, although snow is not the issue now. They salted the roads Easter weekend and it isn't gone yet.
Plus, there's mud in front of my barn that I ain't driving the Vette through; I would probably get stuck. It's usually pretty much hardened up by mid-April. Cold spring: I'm out of coal and almost out of firewood.
Installed a backup camera. There was one on the car, but the previous owner for one reason or another didn't like how it looked, so he took it off, cutting and taping the wires. So I purchased
hoping I could find and use his wires, but prepared to run the new wires that came with the camera if needed. After taking out the rear trim piece and both passenger side tail lights, I was able to find the wires and remove the tape. The result was a bundle with three wires, power, ground and video. I hooked the new camera up and verified with a tester that power was available, but no picture on the head unit (Kenwood DDX-512 with GPS). I downloaded the manual and found the configuration information for it and did the setup steps. Boom, rear view picture pops up over whatever is on the display when you shift into reverse (M6), so at least he used the backup circuit for power. I installed heat shrink tubing, soldered the connections and shrank the tubing. The only other thing I did was to install a rubber grommet in the hole he ran the wires through to prevent possible chafing. So happy to have a backup camera, especially at night as the tint on the windows is darker than I might have opted for.
I may opt for one of the really small cameras in the future, but this license plate mounted unit is okay for now (Note: I've tucked the wire leading into the body better than this shot shows).

Weather has been great here. Drove it down to Vegas to pickup my youngest granddaughter. Took the top off yesterday and took her for a little cruise around town and down some of our back roads. She had a blast and loved it; she got a kick out of putting her hands up and letting the wind hit them, laughed and had a big grin on her face the whole time
Had my GM world class tech install a new harmonic balancer from summit racing. The 120k mile c6 z51 m6 that I've owned since new runs smoother than ever!
Who would have ever thought swapping out a harmonic balancer would allow the vehicles engine rev even smoother than ever..
I'm really glad I did the harmonic balancer swap...
I wonder if a harmonic balancer out of kilter could have at times caused the engine to pull timing because driving since the swap seems much better
