I am sorry, but I have to ask.. How do you think the compressor would still operate without the drive belt?
And the answer is no.

Hopefully OP is asking if CAR (not compressor) will still run with AC belt off or we have the new "goofy question of the week"

If i recall, you can cut off the AC belt without issue. If you want to remove it, you will have to remove the main drive belt first.

You can remove the belt so the compressor wont be turned. The clutch will still be activated by HVAC system unless you press the snowflake button to turn off the compressor.

Hopefully this is what you were trying to ask.

Might be easier to pull the fuse.

Why not just leave the belt on but don't turn on the A/C. Or is the compressor locking up on you? If so you could take the belt off the compressor.

But to be honest, I never checked out the diagram for the belts, so I'm not sure if you can go from one pulley to another leaving the A/C out. It maybe in the way.
