I would rather keep my plug zip tied than having the dealer remove the plug, even if I was covered under warranty.

Do you have a picture of this? I'm not sure what to zip tie.

I have had this issue on my 05 intermittently since I bought the car (usually after my wife drives).... so when I received the letter I was excited to see the problem being addressed. Now I am equally aggravated that they would say they know there is an issue but won't fix it because my vehicle has been in service for over 10 years (only 42k miles BTW)... to me it should be either/or and they fix or they just include all C6's. I am amazed they would open themselves up to this liability by excluding by age of car. If any 05/06 and soon to be 07 owners want to join together to protest this BS, I am in.

Raise the seat as far up and forward as it can go and you should be able to access it no problem.

Do a search for a few months later and you will see I redid it.

Got my letter yesterday. The airbag light has been sporadically coming on over the past couple weeks or so. I was planning to fix based on what I found on this forum, but just hadn't got around to it yet.
Coincidentally, the check engine light also came on yesterday on my way home. I believe it's related based on the info in the letter, but haven't run the codes yet.
Appointment with the stealership tomorrow to have them fix it. *fingers crossed that this will be a pleasant experience.*

Got that letter the other day, funny thing was the air bag light was on again that day too lol. I'm going to call the dealer, it comes on about once every other week or two.

Edit - spoke to a friend at a GM dealer, this is what he said - "On the high side it would take 2 hours. It depends on if your airbag light is on for both seats or just one. Basically that connector that people are talking about is bypassed and the wires will be soldered, crimped, heat shrunk then wrapped in polyester electrical tape"
Also of note, if you ever wanted to remove the seats in the future for any reason, you would need to cut the wires and redo all that.

Most people have just tie wrapped the connector tightly to prevent it from happening.

I guess GM must of start getting a lot of complaints about it.

I'm sorry if this has previously been posted.
I got the letter and took it to my dealer. They took three hours to fix it. The replaced the connectors on the wiring harnesses under both the passenger and drivers seat. The put in new clips, wire tubing etc. I drove out without paying a penny. I have a 2008 model. I did not even have to mess with filling out the GM cost replacement form. Other then the wait it was painless. I guess doing the seats on both sides was the recommended fix and should permanently fix the problem.

Got my letter last week. Have 2005 so no coverage. Doing some research I found out that this letter was originally done on 4 June 2015. Many on this forum have notified the NHTSA about this issue and it should be a safety issue. But why did GM/Chevy hold this letter for a year? Anybody?
