Window Tint....

I'm wanting to get mine done on my coupe. I know side windows are no big deal, but the back window seems to be a very controversial piece. I've heard guys say it must be one piece, yet others say two pieces, some say 6 inch strips and others say put black vinyl over the dot matrix before you ever start.....my question is, which is the best technique in the installer that I'm looking for?

I found a guy that could and would do it in one piece.
If your tinter says you have to sand down or scrape off the dot matrix at the top of the glass or cover it with black vinyl, find another windows tint guy.
In both cases the tint guy is suggesting those options because he does not have the skills, time or inclination to do the job within those constraints.
The window tint can definitely be applied in one piece on the rear window and can be layed over the existing dot matrix on the glass without lifting if your tint guy has real experience with corvette rear windows.

Exactly the right answer.I had mine done last summer and will have it redone once it warms up. It's good, but not flawless. There is one small wrinkle about 1/2" long, and I have a slight bit of separation in one area of the dot matrix. I think my tinter did an okay job, but didn't communicate well. He had tinted a C5 and a C6 prior to mine. He used Elmer's glue on the dot matrix, which I agree is a good solution. I believe either he should have kept the car longer to keep working on the dot matrix, or should have let me card the film over the matrix area in the day or two after the job was done. I talked to him about it about 3 days after the job was done, and think by that time it was too late to make the necessary adjustments to get it perfect.
I had limited options for window tint, and went with someone reputable. However, in hindsight I may have gone somewhere else, or at least had a full conversation about expectations and the full process. That conversation would have been much easier before the work was done.
It will be a lot more work for him to take off the old and redo it than it would have been for him to take the extra time to get it right the first time.

Just had mine done this past weekend. Single piece rear window, right over top of the dot matrix. Installed perfect, looks great. If your tint guy can't do it, find a different guy that can. Call around and ask them specifically for one piece, or even ask them if they have experience with doing corvette windows in the past.
