Haha, you desert suckas!

Think about that next January, when we're laying around the pool.
We do have air conditioning here now.

While I understand cooling off before coming into the garage, I am doubtful that it does any good for the vehicle. If the car can last over 200K miles with a minimum of 200 degrees under the hood, letting it cool off after driving it probably won't make much of a difference. My biggest fear is cold and warm-up time. That's where the damage happens.
However, if it makes you happy, by all means, pop those hoods!

In Arizona, we're proud to say, we have four seasons:

Fall
Spring
Summer

Here in Tucson this heat wave is supposed to peak at 112 Saturday. You poor folk in Phoenix seem to always run a few degrees hotter than here.

Here's an interesting fact for our eastern members - I haven't turned on the A/C yet this year and it's 76 inside the house. 8" adobe walls coupled with an evaporative cooler keep the place comfortable, using only a little more power than a big electric fan and about 25 gallons of water a day!

I only pop the hood open after a drive on a very hot day, which I don't do often, but I do thank you for the endorsement of popping it when ever I like....I feel much better now......

Who are you kidding Jack, your car hasn't seen dirt since it was being delivered on the car carrier.

I guess all us Sacramento area folks are wimps. The temps are supposed to crack 101* on Saturday. Friday is looking like 97*. The worst it gets in the dead of summer is 108*. Still enough to bake your butt if you stay out in it too long. My '69 Mustang doesn't like the heat here, so I always park it in the garage with the hood up after a day's driving. I'm taking it to a show tomorrow and Saturday, so I'm hoping that the car and I will hold up in this "spring" weather.

So true- anything after 110 is all the same. I noticed the same when I used to live in AZ. Out of all the places AZ is my favorite state. But when I used to live there I used to drive a Pinto !!

Well not really true, we were here on vacation way back 1n the 90's as I remember, in July they had the high temp of I believe 125+, now I'm here to testify that there is a difference between 110 and that un-Godly temp, Holy Crap
You were absolutely in the water, or the A/C, nothing else, cruising up river was like a blast furnace hitting you, especially thru the Topock Gorge, I MEAN HOT
So now think of the soldiers in the middle east with packs on in that kind of temp, hats off brothers, hats off to them
We love it here, but it is different, some folk cant take it.

Not a great idea for Vegas or Phoenix. Running A/C 24/7 nearly 6 months of the year is $$$ killer. Adding a 700 Sq. Ft. garage to cool down would put a lot of people over the top.

It would be like you heating your garage to a toasty 78 degrees 6 months out of the year....not likely for many people.

Your car, your call. It won't hurt anything to leave the hood open although I think it's giving you a better piece of mind than it's really helping anything on the vehicle. These things run at 220F so 115F is nothing.

These things are mechanical, they don't have feelings, they will run in -30F to plus triple digit temps. As longs as the fluids are maintained and the proper fluids are used the car will be fine. When cars are designed and tested they go through days and weeks of reliability testing in various extreme conditions.

The UV is the harmful part to car (plastics, rubber, paint, leather, etc.). When not using them the best thing for them is to keep them in the shade out of the direct UV from the sun.

I actually would do it more so my garage wouldn't heat up as much, not so much to cool the car down.
